Keep them on, with an asterisk that they finally "made good" and then it's trade at your own risk.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but can you just leave him on the list, and add a note that he eventually DID ship, but that it took him more than a year to do so? You're not a good trader automatically just because you did eventually ship the beer.

edit: Steimie beat me to it.

Keep them on. The bad trader list is the court of last resort, and its justice needs to be final so that folks can be motivated properly by threatening them with putting their names onto it. Period.

I like the idea of a second list. Or maybe a "probation" list. Where people who made good on bad trades gets put for a few trades until they prove they are trustworthy again. That way people know they can trade with them, but have them ship first. Or if someone did something bad (shipped really late, pre-traded beer they couldn't get but consumed the beer they were given, etc) that is not 100% bad trader they could go there.

I think this would also give bad traders more incentive to make good on trades and improve. If they have the possibility of redemption they may aim for it, if not, they will close their account and either go to another site or create a new ID.

Like X 100000 I think they get too much opportunity in most cases before they get on the list.

I think a great answer is to keep your own list if you can keep up with one.
That way you can set your own parameters and not have to complain about the parameters of the current list.

I keep track of people who make ISO threads looking to maximize profit and people who defend questionable traders too.

I would not want to waste my time with them either.

*Edit* how do you see how people voted? or can you?

Leave him on the list with a note attached to his row stating that it took him 18 months to come through on his end. 18 months later does not a good trader make.

Once on the list, always on the list.

You can add notes saying they've made good on their trades, but it still needs to be known that the BA was in fact a bad enough trader to make the bad trader list in the first place. Everyone on the list has screwed someone (or multiple people) over and this is really something that needs to be visible for everyone to see.

To see the results, you have to vote first.

They stay on. Making good 18 months later doesn't undo the fact that they are a bad trader. If you want to attach a post-script to these traders , then let people evaluate whether they want to trade with that person or not. Also, if someone wants to continue to trade after being on the list, they should come on here and make a post offering some kind of penance.

another vote for keeping them on the list. i'm all for second chances in life but you still have to earn that level of trust and respect back.

Keep them on the list, but note that they have completed the trade.

Put me down for keeping them on the list. Just because they finally completed the trade doesn't make them good, it just makes them suck a tiny bit less.

I didn't love either option in the poll.

My take is this - everybody deserves a second chance, but nobody deserves to get screwed without knowing the person's past. Thus I would add some kind of obvious note that the person is "on probation" or something of that sort. i.e. they're back in the trading community but you should only deal with them if they ship first.

I could see a justifiable case for that person to eventually come off the list and lose their probation status, but I'm not sure it has even happened yet, so it's not worth thinking about too much. It would take a while...

If you are 90 days late paying on your mortgage, they'll have reported you to the credit bureau's a few times. Say you make good on your delinquency. Sure, they'll notate that from there on, but those 30, 60 and 90 day blemishes stay. On the list, you stay. Notate that they have made good, but that doesn't erase everything that they did prior.

I'd say attach a note to their name on the bad trader list stating "Completed trade after XX months, years etc." Other BA's can always insist they ship first, that would be more than fair.

I think bad traders should stay on the list. If you make good there should be a note added that they eventually came through.

Being on the list doesn't force people to stop trading with you. It's a shaming you deserve and a really helpful warning to keep other people from getting screwed.
