Lehigh Valley area. Seems like a lot of distributors up here are getting a decent amount of variants from all the events that are posted..

Anyone have any South Florida info? Called Fort Myers and Estero total wines today, Fort Myers wouldnt tell me what they were getting or how much. Estero is getting 2 cases of Vanilla, and i think 2 cases of Midnight Orange

    it's actually $22.99

I didn't realize the variants cost that much more

I remember in 2014, the last time my area got any variants the coffee and barley wine 4 packs were the same price a regular BCBS

the wholesaler in my area got nothing last year as far as I know

this year they got regular and orange

i had the coffee variant last year but someone gave it to me for free

I think I paid $1-2 more for coffee than regular last year. The variant pricing is bullshit this year IMO.

I'm considering skipping Bourbon County completely this year because fuck you Goose Island/InBev.

If we all keep paying these prices they'll just keep raising them.

And there will be thousands standing right behind you- happy there's one less in line. Same as LE bourbon prices. Same as LE Scotch prices.

I don't really care about the pricing as much as the hoopla that ABI/GI trumps up for this release. They could EASILY come up with a more stable way of distributing this product. Monthly variants, or quarterly variants. BCBS 17 is sitting on the shelf at EVERY big liquor store in DC, and they are sending in MORE this week before okaying the order for the new variants (plus tacking on even more BCBS 2018).

Eventually this will have to stop, because the base (good as it is -though needs to be in 4pks/6pks) is not selling the way it used to. They will innovate when they hit a wall on sales. BCBS base 4x16oz cans, anyone?

I'm predicting that a lot of Bourbon County (not just regular) will be left sitting on the shelves this year.

I disagree. There will be Bourbon County variants sitting alongside the Founders CBS collecting dust.

Yes that is true but my sales have been up this year.

The coffee stout variant is my absolute number one beer of all time, but the coffee Barleywine doesn't sound nearly as appealing, nor do any of the other variants, so I'll probably just pick up three or four bottles of the regular version and call it good.

I'm far more excited to have scored a couple bottles of Big Bad Baptista.

I think the newer 500 ml bottles are so cool I love the look. But, it's a pain the ass size, I'd prefer the return to 4 pk/12 oz bottles. That I would try and get a few, but not the bigger bottles. That is not worth the effort. Besides Im good on big Stouts, I've for Transient from my BIF box, CBS and Kbs. I don't need Bc right now.

Do any of us really 'need' more big stouts?

I know a lot of people here place little stock in Untappd ratings, but most of the variants that are seeing distro this year are getting lackluster reviews compared to prior years' offerings. I wouldn't be shocked to see Coffee Barleywine, Midnight Orange, and Wheatwine turdin' it up around DC.

Well, ya. There's 1000 NEIPAS out there I'd like the same for BA Stouts. Can't have enough.... Because they age well.

Out here in NorCal, we've always had limited availability on variants. Even last year, we had a shit ton of regular. But not much else. Seems like it's a little different this year. There doesn't seem to be as much reg, but still plenty, and a little more of the variants.

I don't know if this is super common across the nation, but I know of a number of distributors that pushing other GI products on to retailers in order to secure BC variants. I have a good relationship with my local bottle shop owner and she's always been fair. She's a little shop and not a big GI account. But, she admitted that she had to bump the bottle price a couple of bucks to cover her other costs. It told her that they wouldn't have any problems selling and I supported her by purchasing a couple of bottles. I don't know what the actual MSRP was.

    $23 for BarleyWine with coffee
    $27 for Vanilla

I think last years Barleywine was $15 and Northwoods was $25. And the one and only bottle of Coffee Stout I've ever had was in 2016 and I think that was $18.

I really don't want to chase, but I really want a couple of bottles of WheatWine. So, we'll see come Friday what I'm going to do. Might just trade for them.

Looks like my area (SWFL, Fort Myers/Estero/Bonita/Naples) will only be getting Vanilla, Wheatwine, and Orange for variants. Was hoping we'd get the coffee barleywine

    forgot to ask this...

I know years in the past there were multiple batches where ABV varied

the bottle I picked up was 15.2%

not sure if anyone has noted the ABV previously in the thread
