Think of a beer you used to enjoy a while ago or in your early years of craft drinking (could be years or months ago doesn't matter), and you still know its available to you easily, but for whatever reason you haven't bought it in a long time. For me (right now), its Leffe Blonde. Haven't been drinking hardly any light Belgian ales in quite some time and this was one I recall really liking in the first few months of rating beers on BA back in 2010/2011 timeframe. I probably had my last one maybe 2 years ago, but thought it's time for a revisit. What is yours?

I could name a few but the truth is I overlook most of these old favorites due to freshness issues. Not so much bottling date as the treatment beers get around here regarding shipment, distributor storage and warm store display.

You have a skill of responding to most threads posing questions like this, without actually answering the question. It’s entertaining. This is not a criticism, but rather an observation that leaves me amused.

Unibroue Trois Pistole. Any Unibroue for that matter. I’m going to pick some up the next time I hit the store.

    Guess it's been 2 years. It's due.

Perhaps I should've gone into politics after all.

Trappistes Rochefort 10. I have it occasionally, but used to drink it more frequently. Can’t remember the last time I drank an 8 or a 6...

That reminds me... I'm gonna add Rochefort 6 as well... can't say that I know it's around though.

Way back in the 1980’s I really enjoyed Corsondonk and China’s red. They were $3-5 a bottle and a real treat since I could get a six pack of 6x16 for $3.

I also drank a lot of Stoudts and Rogue back then.

I have not had any of these in many years. Thinking back there are at least 100 beers I have not had in many years that back then we’re beers I drank. Guessing it’s mostly due to so many more good beers available now then back then.

    Good post.

I need to try a few of these old timers and see how it goes.

This could be a great thread to have a mass tasting with.

“ revisit a beer you loved years ago but have not had in a long time”

    Enjoy

I love the style ( scotch ale ) but Scotty seemed to be a bit stringent for as often as I drank it. I ask and received it as a Christmas gift when it was seasonal from a family member closer to a larger liquor store. Perhaps I just burned myself out.
Regardless, now that it’s a year round brew and I have passed on it for well over a year, at least, it’s time to get reacquainted.
Great post. Got me thinking. Wait? Thinking?

Yes, this is one that gets unjustly passed over by me constantly.

Alaskan Amber, then I discovered hop forward brews. Lately I've been looping back around to more malty ales. The circle of life.

Old Rasputin. We make eye contact whenever I go to the liquor store, but it has been too long since I made a purchase.

Consider yourself lucky that you can make eye contact and still resist him. Elena Dzhanumova wrote about Rasputin's eyes in her diary: “What eyes he has! You cannot endure his gaze for long."

That's another good choice because since Backwoods Bastard has become available throughout the year, this one gets overlooked despite its appeal.

Speaking of Backwoods Bastard, Dirty Bastard is also a good choice for a revisit because Founders discontinued Curmudgeon and then brought back Curmudgeon's Better Half. This seems to be par for the course right now for beers like these. If we want to be able to revisit Dirty Bastard, we need to continue buying it. (That almost sounds like a Yogi Berra-ism)

Great point. Dirty Bastard basically built that brewery, if I recall (until All Day took over). It would be a sad day if they discontinued it.
