    Good morning/afternoon advocates...

I was wondering if any of you enjoy a (quick) nap right after lunch assuming you either have a very early morning shift, or it’s the weekend or holidays and which beer help you spark a nap?

Generally I allow myself a 30 minutes nap on Saturday and Sunday now (getting old...)

My beer of choice is often a ~8% ABV Belgian Strong Pale Ale or Triple. Sometimes a Quad and if I can get it some Founders’ Stout.

Obviously only one as we all know that too much booze = bad sleep or rest.

Naps FTW! On this Turkey/Thanksgiving Day make sure you have one (beer and nap) before the celebrations tonight.

    Cheers

Naps are wildly underrated, IMHO. I CANnot get through one of my NBS marathons without at least one nap in there at some point! I CAN sleep any time, anywhere thanks to my US Navy career, where I slept atop live ammunition at one point. Happy Thanksgiving to one & all!

Love napping but I agree to much booze is bad rest. Napping is nice; passing out not so much.

I get home from the pub, make a cup of coffee and sit down in the summerhouse. When I wake up it is dark and my coffee is cold.

I'm convinced the combination of Saturday/Sunday, couch, football, and one beer is the best sleeping pill around!

Not so much when drinking unless of course it is towards the end of the evening... heh heh.

However, one beer style absolutely makes me a catatonic and will just hit me like a sleeping pill. American barleywines absolutely knock me to sleep, like a sedative. I ve napped pretty good on a few of those they just put me straight to sleep if I drink a lot of them.. those hops!

    Yes.

Ok, I know one word responses are suspicious here, but YES. I mean... especially when watching sportsballs, after 4 pm, with a beer nearby. The winks and nods start hittin' something fierce. Only natural. Not an intentional thing, but when I lose several minutes of time, well... all is well. Long as I don't snore.

Weed is better for naps. Would take too much beer to put me to sleep.

When I was younger naps kinda screwed me up for the rest of the day, but since 40 I have been able to do the 2 hour nap and feel rejuvenated. Plus it helps limit the beer consumption on weekends

I don't nap unless I really got shafted on sleep the prior night. (Working friday night, then saturday morning) When I do it's for like 4 hours and it screws up my Saturday, so I try not to do it. Sleep when you're dead, drink beer while you live!

Sadly for some of us living on call sleep shortages are a part of life. I take sleep when I can get it

I find on the weekends, if I get up and do alot of morning yardwork (anything physically active for a few hours), have lunch and a beer and rest for a while in front of the TV, a nap is always going to happen. Unavoidable. Even if I got a good night sleep beforehand.

With two young kids, naps are a distant memory....

Seeing as I’m still on the younger side, naps ruin the whole day for me. I just ride it out until I usually go to bed. Otherwise I wake up disoriented and usually feeling worse, especially after a few beers.

    Yes to naps.

In fact, I'm part dog. I sleep more than I don't.

I don't know if it's because of the medication I take or just the way I am, but I suffer from extreme drowsiness. I will sleep as much as I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can. Unfortunately my 50+ work weeks prevent me from napping as much as I'd like to, but they contribute to my exhaustion, too. The other day I slept 16 hours. That's not too unusual for me.

I’m not on the younger side and could not agree more. Snap out of it. Warren Zevon said “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.”

Please take a look at your 50 hour work week. Medication aside, 10 hour work days plus commute time is enough to cause your fatigue. Napping more than 30 minutes can disturb your sleep patterns. Listen to your body. Go to bed earlier during the week.
    Been there.
