I think it depends on where you are at. I went to Jewel (Lisle) then Binny's (DG) after. I was roughly in the same place in line for both. I got everything but reserve at jewel. At binny's was only able to get coffee, barleywine and regular. Another plus is that Jewel opened at 7 (looks like 10 of them this year).

I haven't been too impressed with what I've had so far, so I'm not even going to bother this year despite being near 2 of the Jewel's getting full allotment.

 

Full allotment at Binnys LP is $273

 

I hope that's after tax. Should be about $248-249

Received MBA email stating tasting tickets for $115 (w fees) are still available for 1 and 7 PM events.The event also comes with a "mystery" variant, snifter and some snacks.

Had six 7-8 oz pours at Fountainhead last night for less after tax and tip, was able to enjoy and properly pace (4.5 hours).

Will try the last two, regular and reserve, tomorrow before deciding the regular bottle count I'll purchase.

Edit - You're missing out though, regular and reserve are 2/3 best ones this year.

After debating of LP for some time then reading this thread, that decision may prove not to be beneficial as originally thought. Especially if getting there at 2am may be "too late". Thinking hitting a jewel and another local binnys or woodmans may be the answer. Cheers all

 

Glad to hear, thought the Reserve may be their best offering (wasn't available at Fountainhead), glad I didn't chase Reserve at Timothy O'Toole's based on the review provided stating they didn't tap 2 per 30 minutes as advertised.

Coffee and Regular are typically my two favorites each year, Prop sometimes crashes to the top 1/2 positions.

 

Alright here’s the real scoop from my real friend who is really there. The parking lot is set up as a queue. He’s 130th in line. He says it’s “under control”.

 

Mystery variant has been Proprietor’s the last 2 years. I would expect the same this year.

 

All sold out... would’ve been nice to go with the wife.

 

Binny's just needs to set-up a fenced in area and the first thousand people to get in are considered the line and they stop letting people in after that. If someone leaves the holding pen, they give up their spot and must go to the end of the line for getting into the holding pen. That would make the most sense so they can move around or use a porto potty and it prevents them from going to a car or leaving...
