Amazing NEDIPA as usual. Glad we finally got more in distro. Aromas and flavors of huge passion fruit, papaya, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, guava, berry, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, white bread dough malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Bready/grainy wheat/oat creaminess and some hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, never astringent. Dangerously drinkable for the ABV. Minimal warmth of 9%. Super juicy hops with some dankness; balanced malts, not overly sweet/heavy feeling for the ABV. Love all Ellison IPAs, but this is my favorite. Hope they make it more often moving forward.

Always world class. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, oak, toasted oats, nuttiness, and dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, licorice, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and herbal/peppery hops. Light herbal/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Light sticky hops, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Mild increasing warmth of 9.4%, minimal barrel booze. Amazingly rich malt complexity, perfect barrel integration, and balancing earthy hops. One of the best Russian Imperial Stouts available. Glad they are in 12 oz format now.

Insane DIPA as usual. Aromas and flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, biscuit, light caramel/toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt, and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Super smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 9%. Amazing classic Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; great bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Well attenuated for the ABV. One of the best west coast DIPAs ever made, especially with having no newer hops.

Fantastic! 2017 batch. Flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, habanero peppers, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge brownie, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, char, molasses, dark fruit, and herbal spice earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness and pepper/cinnamon spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with an awesome creamy, silky, and fairly velvety mouthfeel. Some spice stickiness and chalky roast. Lightly increasing bitter, spicy, roast/char dryness. No acrid/astringency. Increasing pepper heat through the glass, but not overwhelming. Very rich stout complexity, with perfectly balanced coffee and spices. Barrel isn't as big as I'd prefer, but has more presence than I remember prior to this batch. Used to be super spice heavy, but now more balanced. I love the richer/silkier mouthfeel that it has now. Looking forward to trying the 2018 soon.

A strange morning (i.e., still wrestling with health annoyances, Mrs. Goot is up in Parker -- should be home this morning, cold and some snow on the ground) but may as well dive in with a double to start things...

Moving on to a New Mexican/Hispanic themed moment and a beer with coffee chaser moment (and there is Pasqual's coffee -- a Señora Goot favorite -- in the mug)...

...and, geez, Chico, Charles Lloyd and Gabor Szabo -- damn fine West Coast jazz...
