Chugging Craft Beer: Why?

Getting it down is just the first step in chugging. It's what follows that makes for the total experience.

It logically follows that you would and such outcome seems to be a common thread among chugging stories, but I can only go by what I've heard.

Didn't go to the colleges but I used the libraries at Cornell and Rutgers often in the early 80s/early days of the "craft era" and, well, nothing like a beer after a hard day at the microfilm reader and I saw a lot of "craft" beer being consumed in the college area bars. Granted, I didn't check frat membership ID's or know their secret handshakes...

 

I say again,not all "craft"beer is high ABV. In fact the origins of "craft" are firmly based on re brewing live cask ale because the big brewers had moved to keg beer.Big things have small beginnings.
By choice,the vast majority of my drinking is around 4% ABV for a host of reasons. Among them is more flavour overall.

Beer used to be meant to enjoy with friends and not sell them for 100's or 1,000's of dollars! I love to see the expression of those hipsters when I chug that Whale

 

Isn't your viewpoint completely contradicting the act of chugging, though? Your statement seems nonsensical, unless getting a rise out of hipsters is worth way more intrinsically than enjoying or sharing good beer.

 

Chugging beers and sharing and enjoying beers aren't mutually exclusive. Both can have a part in your life if you so choose.

I'm having a BCBS Vanilla later today, and I'll drink it as slowly as I can. If anyone is thinking of chugging theirs, I'll trade you a BCBS Vanilla bottle filled with FBS, and you can chug that for the video, and nobody will know differently...

 

I agree. I remember my stupidest days. Beer bonging, shotgunning, etc... But those were done with beers that had very little to offer in the way of taste, and in those days we were often drinking TO get drunk. So I believe his is an updated version, but with the addition of quality beers into the mix.
And sadly, you see so much more of this due to the ease of spreading images on the inter webs and apps. The picture of me swilling beer from my epically designed beer bong Dio2 disappeared long ago (Thank goodness it was before this era).

 

I began Chugging beer at first

Chugging Beer is a way of life for me to be completely honest, you might not understand the culture, and why we do it but its funny because now even the most ardent people that where against chugging are chugging also. I love Craft Beer and this community but I,m also tired of these idiots that are always out there criticizing people for what they do frankly I could care less what people do with their Beer. I prefer to share a beer with friends and enjoy but I also chug to bond with new friends. Cheers and have a great day.

 

I was never much of a slammer, but on a hot day I can take a nice Pils down in 3 pulls. Then I reach for another. Chugging Bc is a bit ridiculous but AALs and such are fair game.

Appearance: glass bottle
Smell: glass bottle
Taste: coffee, chocolate, my lunch after I puked 3/4 of the way through chugging a BA imp stout.
Mouthfeel: chunky
Overall: probably should have sipped this

All joking aside... I chugged a few light beers years ago, though it was never my forte. I couldn't handle chugging a high abv beer. What you do with your beer is your business, enjoy what you have!

 

Two golden rules of beer. 1. Don't judge what someone else is drinking. 2. Don't judge how they drink it. Follow these rules and you will prosper.

 

I know a guy that slams every beer, don't recall ever seeing him sip one. Luckily he doesn't drink high-ABV craft.
