Their Instagram post explains it "multiplied the dry hop weight and occurrence by a factor of 2 of the beer we previously brewed"

It’s literally explained on the can with the use of an asterisk (actually explains the different hopping) and in the description on the side of the label (Refers to it as “Double Dry Hyped.”)

Only had 1 so not enough to judge with much nuance but - Epitome tastes great. Also, it's at Bottle King in Montclair.

Tracked down some Epitome nearby. Sooo good. Not sure if I can tell the difference between previous iterations and the new DDH version but it is delicious and hoppy.

    Glad you found some.

I was trying to do the same thing. Of course, the last I had it was a year ago and it’s one of my least consumed Carton beers, so any changes might not stand out to me.

It’s as great as I remember.

I need some Epitome in my life. Dying to try this one, is this limited? Distro. just started in CT., wondering if we will see any?

    Cheers all....

    you won't.
we strive for our beers to be off the beaten craft. even the simpler on style things like hoppun and id ipa we approach differently hoping the people that look for flavors like we do will find them.
the general world of beer retail gets confused outside "it's an IPA" this is even harder when a distro level is added, does every salesman understand why licorice belongs in corretto?
there are retailers we trust in NJ to handle a style that is so misunderstood one of the best breweries in america gave up on it (rip wook). so we make enough for them and our regular neighbor friends and keep on top of people helping develop the drinking/thinking part of our community over the sensation seeking/collecting .
striving to do what isn't done in a world that thrives on widgets made by corporations that handle pulling people in with ad dollars rather than people dollars is the fun of being small and independant. ultimately we would like to make a beer that makes each of our neighbors excited and make it very easy for them to get that beer, but if you have ever put a fruited, smoked, cascadian dark, built to evoke a blunt, or just tried to explain the difference between "evoking carrot cake" and "tasting like carrot cake" in the hands of a guy who spends most his days discussing the benefits of the 30 rack over 2 cases you will know the effort.
we curate beers and relationships everywhere we go and i would love to know what places you think would handle epitome and our more innovative stuff well, but part of finding communities that "get" what Idipa is and not what it isn't is part of that so while we do our part of a slow research/development you keep us filled in on "the places that get it."
    please

Fair enough, I appreciate your input. I love Black ales/ IPAs. Looking forward to sipping on whatever is avail. in the future here in CT. Keep going off the beaten craft!

    Indeed.

Black ales are my favorite style it's a shame they are hard to find. Love that Carton puts a few out there. It's a nice tradition for me to drive to Atlantic Highlands on Black Friday for the only shopping I will do that day.

That's awesome. I always thought Epitome tasted like an even-more-badass version of FW Wookey Jack. I never liked black IPAs until I had that beer. Great example to follow

(Epitome blows Wookey out of the water, btw. Congrats)

Not sure about the brewery, but I bought a 4 pack at the little silver bottle shop last night. They had a few more.

Like @SammyJaxxxx said, plenty at the brewery.

Stores' supplies seem to be dwindling, though. I grabbed the last 3 available (but then gave 2 away to a couple of older gentlemen who were rummaging through different craft beer singles.....my good deed of the day)

I love how on the description it’s actually Double Dry Hyped. Hilarious. Not sure if it was Augie’s idea or not but kudos to whoever thought it up.
