I did prefer the earlier High-Westified but this is still pretty nice.

Knocking off my third variant from Black Friday...
I first had Vanilla BCBS back in December of 2010, before I was taking pictures of what I was drinking (yes, such a time existed), meaning, I have no actual pic of the beer from then, but it was in the original bomber bottle...

I *think* this is the first time I've had it since then...:astonished:
My original review still pretty much fits the bill - not sure that the beer tastes exactly the same, mind you - seems a little more syrupy and vanilla-forward than I remember, but hey, we're talking 8 years ago, so...
Still a super bourbon barrel stout...

Looks like there'll be no upset in Houston tonight...
So, I'm kinda in and out of the game...

Off tomorrow *yea!* - other than a trip to the DMV in the am with the missus, I'm a free agent, so no real pressure on me tonight... Feeling sleepy though... lol

    While I've been posting...

    Cheers...

Another new Roak seasonal. Outstanding gose. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy cranberries, fruit skin, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, coriander, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, lightly toasted bread malts; light pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang; and light coriander spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body. Balanced bready/grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang; and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, no puckering sourness. Very flavorful/refreshing. 4.2%. Not overly lactic or salty. Awesomely balanced juicy/jammy cranberries, Lacto complexity, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Not overdone on salt/coriander at all. Would buy a 2nd pack, spot on style.

Delicious NEIPA. Aromas and flavors of tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, guava, passion fruit, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced wheat, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/bready wheat/oats, and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Refreshingly drinkable, 6.7%. Really spot on stuff all around. Great soft mouthfeel with stone fruity/tropical hop juiciness, and balanced wheat/bready malts. Mild dankness. Really well done for a nationally available NEIPA. Feels like the El Dorado has the most presence with this. Will get again, always freshly available.

Elysian BiFrost winter warmer. I gave this a try for $9 a sixer. I would call this a DIPA at 8.3 abv. Since it walks and talks thataway. @SawDog505 already nailed it. Cheers!

Always amazing, one of the best pumpkin ales I've ever had. Flavors of big pumpkin, clove, allspice, caramel, brown sugar, gingerbread, toast, cinnamon, nutmeg, and herbal spice earthiness. Light balancing herbal/spice bitterness against sweetness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; bready malt creaminess and light spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly drying spice finish, no astringency. This is probably the most authentic actual pumpkin-fruit forward beer I have had, with an amazing balance of spices. Love it just as much as Pumking; but this has more malt/pumpkin sweetness, and less intensely drying spice/seedy pumpkin presence. Top tier stuff for the style. Oddly only available at Meijers this year, but whatever. As long as I can still find it, I'll buy it.

Awesome imperial red as always. Big flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, nutty malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced bready creaminess and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Minimal warming 8%. Always delicious year after year. I always get a pack. Very similar to Lake Erie Monster from the Simcoe hops, but with richer/darker malt character. Juicy and fairly dank.

I saw Zappas kids play in 2008, that was quite the interesting show. Too bad frank passed years before my concert going career...
