Zombie Dust is very good but nothing special, in my opinion.

It's not what's ON the table, it's who is AROUND the table. At least that's the way I see it. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Right choice, I find myself with these every now and then and I say "what the hell am I thinking". Last friday slipped out in the am to grab some bourbon county, and was at one store waiting around for the truck to get there (they said it was minutes away) and realized I was going to be late to the house to go downtown with my daughters to a local brewery. I had the WTF moment and said here I am a 50+ year old man hanging around the beer department in a grocery store waiting the the beer truck. I turned around and walked out. FOMO sucks, and at some point it becomes about the chase vs what you are chasing. Beer won't come jump you off in the middle of the night when your battery goes tits up. Beer won't come help you when you move. Having said all that one of my daughters brought me a couple of bottles of ZD back from up north, so that is why I can wax so philosophical on this . Good call

That was just a quick count with my eyes when I was standing in line! Really, they probably got like 500 b/c they sell it year round. In October they put out 20 or so cases of '17 BCBS. Who knows, but we aren't hurting in Houston for BCBS. I used to live 40 minutes from Chicago and I could only get it one day a year up there.

Agree with all the above, friends and family before any beer.

No. Friends > Beer. You chose wisely.

FWIW, Zombie Dust is not distributed in my area either and I was pretty excited when a friend brought me a bottle. I thought it was very good, but I had had plenty of other similar beers there were as good and maybe even better. What Zombie Dust has is OG cred, which is a feeling not a flavor. Zombie Dust, like Pliny the Elder or Heady Topper, inspired many similar beers, many of which I'm sure you've had. Don't sweat it. And as others have said ZD is quite common within its distribution area, so you could easily trade for it if you really wanted to try it.

Bro he was just joking around with you. Calm your BCBS self down. Your store and Texas are clearly better.

Everytime I go to a large craft section in a new store out of town I see more beer than I can buy. I passed up cassian sunset to have BA expo and narwhal last week.

Great choice IMO, and do a $4$ trade and get some ZD.

The beers you bought are good. IMO the Cassian is better - just me.

Not buying it has haunted me since. Should have switched out the narwhal, but I was so excited about BA expo I whiffed on the opportunity...

Zombie Dust is really good but is a flagship beer and always available so I wouldn't worry too much, doesn't take anything to get some in a trade on here

    You chill...haha.

He was mocking you because you were doing a humble brag about how much BCBS your shop got.

He even added /s at the bottom of the post which means sarcasm.

Zombie Dust is a solid beer. It's also the product of ridiculous amounts of hype. With the levels of expectations that you have for the beer, it would probably be somewhat disappointing. It's very good but it isn't going to melt your face off or change your perceptions of what is possible in beer. You made the right choice.

I just can't resist temptation to buy variants when I run across them. Thank god they're almost gone for the year. Went into a liquor store on the way home from work planning to buy the last Wheatwine which I figured they still had. They did have it. I got talking to the owner and a customer about the variants, and I told them how good Wheatwine is - so the customer bought it. I felt good/bad about that, good that I didn't buy another and some lucky guy was getting that as a Christmas present from his wife, bad because I had been thinking about it all day. Lucky it wasn't a Vanilla, would have tackled her...

Jamming with friends and enjoying some good beers would be far more satisfying than drinking Zombie Dust whilst thinking about jamming with your friends.

I rarely know a beer is hard to find until after I've passed it up.
