I know a lot of people like aging stouts, but I think it's a waste with something like this. The barrel flavor and coconut will fade. Sometimes they meld over a bit of time, but I always wish I was better about drinking my barrel aged, additive stouts within 8 months to a year. There are certainly some exceptions, but it's sad when that coconut fades to a mess.

Concentric grooves is better than BA snowbirds IMO.

That's the beauty of 4pp. You can have your cake and eat it a couple times.

Was told earlier today that an amount of the ba snowbirds bottles are being sent up to Rochester. It seemed like they were taking bits from that stash throughout the day to stop it from selling out and eventually stopped fighting the rush and let it sell out...

There was a time that the best IPA's were collabs, infrequent, high demand, quick sellout. Frankly I think their best solo beers today top those best early collabs by a wide margin. It should progress much the same with these stouts.

Side note: shared a growler of DDH the other day tonight, unexpectedly big melon notes, was loved by all. If you skipped it make sure you get some.

Last batch of The Other Day in cans was quietly incredible; it lasted for almost two weeks! You're right on with those big melony notes. I think the Vermont yeast used to be hit or miss but is now more consistently a hit!

The Other Day is one of my favorite DIPAs period, not just OH. The last batch before it was outstanding too.

Great - so I didn't bother driving into Brooklyn after work since they posted they had very little left around 5. I definitely would have made it in time to get bottles if I had went

I saw another local brewery releasing a BA stout advising customers to "please come early" because they expect high demand and there's limited availability. My gut reaction is "gross; you want to encourage more people to stand around for hours in the freezing cold to get your beer?", or were they being transparent/polite?

How insensitive in light of this tragedy. Try to imagine youself walking in someone else's shoes for a mile before making such a dismissive post. Remember, this is a community.

The "after work crowd" was certainly a variable, but I've noticed with cans (back when they risked selling out early!) and bottles that there's usually an initially rush and then things slow down massively, fewer people as well as fewer people maxing.

You mean, Finback. Name names. Haha. I just hope they are wrong and demand is not high.

I take it you've never stood in a BQE line! Those are long and slow moving.

Maybe the tropic fruit throws people off?

I don't think a shitshow (although I am not a good gauge of shitshows as we have seen).

Hudson valley has a release and EQ is having all of their beers (OH collab) plus all of the OH versions of the collabs as well. Do I think it will be one of the busier Saturdays in the last couple months, yes, but i think the EQ release (especially with the same collab beers) and HV release will keep the people from north of NYC up there if I had to guess.

I am going to line up around 8, but mostly to share with some friends before they open. If I wasn't going to share a bit I would probably stroll up around 9/930.
