Had to read that twice, thought you canned a beer called Dom's Sausage.

Wouldn't be a bad name for a Rauchbier.

@ctkach will Galaxy Two Seam see distribution?

We sent a limited amount out to our usual suspects. Along with the first run of cans of Brocktoberfest. We won't have Brocktoberfest in the brewery until 8/28 though when we package it again.

I know some of you really enjoy our Galaxy Four Seam so I wanted to give you all a heads up that we will be releasing a batch this Thursday (tomorrow). This will likely be the last batch of Galaxy Four Seam in a very long time as it is the end of our Galaxy hops and we haven't been able to procure more for 2019 or 2020 without paying out the nose for them (which we have declined to do). So if you like the Galaxy juice, don't wait on this.

And before someone asks, yes a few cases will make it out to distribution but not until next week and at a much lower volume than we have been sending regular Four Seam out as.

Thanks, Chris! Case limits? Or better, for fanboys who have to drive two hours and then back through rush-hour traffic? If I can figure out how to get loose, I'll have my nose pressed up against the door at 2:59.

Wait a minute, you said 2019 and 2020 contracts? Two years of mourning?

Already planned on being there tomorrow afternoon because I'll be in the area. So this works out well for me.

I was also there Saturday, Red Handed was still tasting good, and that batch of Adelais really popped too.

I ended up grabbing a sixtel of Red Handed for a party during the world series. That beer left me wanting as many IH DIPA I could get my hands on. Great job Brett

Yeah, the market for southern hemisphere hops is ludicrous right now. Hopefully some free up from breweries who over contracted in the next year but you can never count on that. So it might be a long while before we can brew this and/or Galaxy Two Seam again.

There will be a 1 case limit at the brewery on this. We reserve the right to lower this though depending upon total yield and demand.

I suspect we'll be out of it by the end of the weekend, if not sooner. There seems to be a lot of interest in this release given that its the last one for a long time.

I popped by on Funky Friday and enjoyed an Adelais as well. The Saphir is really popping in this batch.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Out of curiousity, any chance you could ballpark how much the cost of galaxy hops has risen over the past year or so?

no idea since we were working off old contracts that we established years ago under the enlightenment brand. I've seen them at spot for around $30/lb... I think our current contracts were around $15/lb. Most (if not all) places that I asked for contract quotes didn't even have them available for sale on contract.

Maybe a dumb question, but are there hop producers out there trying to sort of replicate other hops as in "hey, check out this strain that gets you 90% of the way towards Galaxy for half the price and none of the hype/hassle"?

Or are growers more focused on trying to differentiate new strains from existing hop flavor profiles in order to hit on the next new big thing?

Oh wow! Thanks for the insight. Can't blame Idle Hands one bit for pursuing other hops.
