Good morning BAs. Longer walk with dogs this chilly 50 degrees morning complete...home now with CW’s Rum Barrel Coconut Porter:

Black and ruby color; some floaties (flecks of coconut?). Strong rum nose. Boozy rum taste with coconut right behind, followed by chocolate. Kinda like a coconut patti/candy soaked in rum. I like! Cheers and have a great day y’all!

Even though I’m hitting the hay after this, my 3-day weekend starts now. Roasty, nutty, syrupy...these are starting to come together nicely. Cheers BA, what’s in your glass?

These are both from last night in Rapid City, SD.

Black Hills Brown by Firehouse Brewing for me and my wife had a margarita at Que Pasa Cantina.

We then went to the Independent Ale House in Rapid.
I had a Brut IPA by Fair State Brewing and she had an Omission Lager.

I was very disappointed by that beer. Tasted no different than their first copper brew from 2 years ago. No whiskey notes at all.

Fat Head’s “Moxee Mojo”… 5.5% ABV – Simcoe wet hopped pale.

Here is FH’s description of it :

“This vibrant and hoppy pale ale is brewed with wet,
whole flower Simcoe hops. The flavor has a silky resinious with a
crisp hoppy finish. Maris Otter malts lend a medium malt backbone.
    Only brewed once a year.”

I will say this… Probably the most weed forward, dank IPA I’ve ever had next to New Belgium’s Hemperor. When I cracked the crowler, I was blown away by the aroma. Def not your everyday wet hopped beer… This thing was potent! Straight up weed… Flavor followed with a bitter, resinous finish.

I really enjoyed it though… Would get again, for sure. Probably one of my favorite wet hopped beers this year, honestly.

(Ignore the dog hair on the crowler... damn huskies!)

Beautiful golden amber color. Bright and clear, the others would do well to copy this inviting appearance.

Aroma of somewhat muted caramel sweetness. Absolutely no off notes of any sort with an inviting offer of drinkability.

Taste is much like the aroma but richer with more depth. Some hop presence mid palate that recedes by the finish which is clean, quick, without a hint of bitterness of roasted malt or hops, and a slightly lingering note of malt richness. The aftertaste actually improves on the flavor.

This is marketed at a "breakfast stout" and I don't know exactly what it is brewed with but I get coffee/maple/caramel in the taste and the smell but their is also a distinct smoky/pork flavor in the nose and the taste underlying everything. This has got to have either bacon or sausage in in it. This has more than 10x as much pork flavor as the Maple Bacon Porter from Funky Buddha I tried last week. Not sure how I feel about this one, it is definitely different. If you have ever smelled the Mmmm Bacon candle from Yankee Candles this tastes very much like that smells. I think this may be a love it or hate it type of beer for most people.

I really can't get over how much this beer tastes like bacon or sausage. I am slowly sipping it and the warmer it gets the porkier it gets.
