100% chance she will find regular bcs at Jewel and text you "I found a ton of those beers you're looking for! "

Yeah told her about the WF releases but of course they are on a week day, she is like 2 blocks from the Lakeview one. She works in some capacity in the food and beverage industry but not anything to do with beer and called a couple places who were like yeah we still have some Bourbon County, I told her I was good on those haha.

Wonder how WF release will be. I’d like to stop by on my way in but I wouldn’t get there until near open

I honestly think it'll depend on how much they got. If the 4 places got a good amount (good by like a Jewel or Binny's standard), I think you'll be able to at least find some variants after open. If they got pretty bad allotments, you're probably screwed.

My experience is that it's generally pretty slim, last year Edgewater got like 2 cases of prop, one case of Reserve, and 3 of all other variants. From what I remember and that is one of the largest WF drops
Take that w/a grain of salt tho, maybe they are just doing less this year because those were the only accounts to get it but DePaul has always been the best spot for the Friday after because no one lines up until like 2 hours before they open.

Someone has been at DePaul for at least 3 hours before open the past 3 years. I know...from experience. That being said...the real crowd of sane people definitely doesn't show up until later, but you had to be there at least 2 hours ahead of time to get Prop & Reserve last year, I believe.

After hearing that Lakeview WF isn't getting Reserve, my expectations for this WF release drastically reduced and I plan on sitting it out. I thought that maybe all the beer was centralized to these 4 locations, so there would be more available, but it might not be that way. I may swing by one of them around 8 after dropping off my kids to see what is still available, but that's it probably.

Lakeview isn't getting Reserve? There are 4 WF in the entirety of the Chicagoland area getting any bottles at all, and one of the 4 isn't even getting one of the variants, while pallets of product sat on Jewel floors (not Reserve, but still)?

What the hell is going on with BCBS this year?

That's what I was told. On one hand, it's not that crazy because I heard they only had like 3 bottles of it last year at open and there seem to be quite a few stores that got cut out of Reserve this year. On the other hand, it's crazy because if you add up the Reserve that all of the Chicagoland WF got last year, it would seem the group of stores would still get some. And maybe WF will still get some, but it'll go to one of the other 3 stores (or a combo of them)...who knows.

Or, I got lied to by the WF employee yesterday...or they had no idea what they were talking about. Those are both very real possibilities.

Last year DePaul had 5 each of Reserve and Prop (the ol' holiday five pack). I remember because the four of us at the front of the line (including you) got it, along with the guy who was hired to wait in line by someone on Craiglist who was right behind us.

I would have thought by consolidating to just four stores, WF was trying to ensure bigger allocations of the variants to everyone, but maybe their Goose sales were just down this past year and they got a lower allocation as a result...in any event, the consolidation to four stores means I'm not hitting WF this year. Rather just chase the beers on draft.

If anyone wants Vanilla for $40 or Bramble for $35 take a stroll down to Lakeside Spirits, Food and Wine. Hard pass.

WF is wierd, they always get this shit fucked up. DePaul, LP, & EW, were the only accounts that had what they said they could actually offer. This year Binnys upped thier game, Goose finally understood the magnitude of their hype and distributed bottles to a bunch of stores on Friday with having a ton of draft options all over Chicago. Not exactly sure, but each WF has liquor people who bring in liquor for all the area and someone somewhere up top kinda passed up this year. Or that's my guess. However EW always has good shit on draft that LASTS.

I'll go early, see what the line is like then probably head home.

I was...61st or so in line at Lakeview (dude in front of me got the last ticket, which I thought meant I was S.O.L. as usual), but by the time the line got to me, they still had Vanilla, WW, Bramble and CBW (regular too, of course). Prop was long gone, so I did about as well as I could showing up 5 minutes before opening.

The surprising thing to me was how many people skipped regular entirely. These were clearly people who have been elsewhere, because a good amount of people in line were just taking their 3 variants, and moving on.

I also heard that the people in the front of the line jumped back in line as soon as they were done, but I couldn't confirm that, since I wasn't paying attention to what they looked like.

Yeah, I'd do a bottle of Prop for $40 if I had to, since it doesn't seem like I'm destined to track one down. I'm not a fan of paying above MSRP in general, but I also have to be real about the situation.
