You're geographically close. Think one state East.

So, one of the Jackie O's offerings then?! Michigan is up north, Kentucky is down south, Illinois is to the west.

There was a recent big stout release. My beer friends were texting me asking what I thought, and I pointed how it was butter with the additives showing up underneath, and then a big ol' glass of warm butter when warmed. I didn't get any texts back.

The person I drank the stout with said all he could taste was butter once I pointed it out. I guess I ruined that one.

Waking up drunk, IMO, always sucks! Unless you enjoy headaches and vomiting.

Thanks for the tip. I love venison and it’s hard to find restaurants that serve it.

Sometimes I google hop profiles while I'm writing reviews.

You know, when you taste or smell something and you know you know what it is but you can't quite put your finger on it? Like that. But if the commercial description says 'sensory descriptors include passionfruit and lychee' and I'm smelling rotting organs, I still go with rotting organs. Sometimes I just need a little nudge.

You'd think I'd do it less and less often but I actually find myself doing it more.

Wish I had the patience to do this research. I often rely on my past experiences with certain hops in beers but don't always know which of the hops is doing which. I'd probably be effected subconsciously and start tasting notes I don't like in everything haha.

We take ourselves too seriously about beer. It's just beer.

Perhaps, but it is a serious subject

When someone links to a beer in the post, TELL US WHAT THE BEER IS!!! Don't just say 'this' hyperlinking to the review of it, just tell us for those who don't have the time or inclination to hunt down every beer link in a thread.

Not controversial, but I wish Dunkel were a more common style.

I'll toss another one out there. The chase for a lot of people isn't about "the beer" anymore. We all can find good beer in the shelves some more than others. But in the last few years people have chosen to use beer as a status symbol rather than just honestly enjoying something. It can't be good if it costs under $20 a 4 pack or less than $15 large format bottle. It's a slippery slope that I am glad to have avoided.

The problem is that most of the great BBA stouts are expensive. Some of the cheaper ones really suck. Still, ridiculously expensive latest haul posts can be cringe inducing. I'm sure some people post their fancy beers on 4 different social media sites too, trying to collect those invaluable likes.

I had fun ready some opinions here. All I can share is that I'd been through controversies with drinking too much beer but I enjoyed it. ;-)

Do you get Jack's Abby Red Tape? One of my favorites this season.

In DC, I’m afraid not. But when I was in NH and VT I really enjoyed it, definitely one of my favorites as well.
