Yeah the hop profile was really nice and distinct. Not overpowering either, still a solid malt backbone too, making it still quite drinkable.

Here to back this post up. There was something special about that beer when I had it at the brewery last night. Super soft and so well done. Really hope they adapt this beer into something more than a one-off. Too good to let go by the wayside.

Which is a damn shame because this batch is just particularly fine.

One thing I notice that has changed, at least in contrast to the first run, is there was very little head formation in those early cans - I had to pour the bejesus out of one to raise just a little sud. This batch poured with a big, creamy head that lasted well. Cosmetic stuff, but I do like a pretty beer. And, of course, it tastes terrific and the mouthfeel is quite excellent.

Sorry for the foreign glassware. I left my Idle Hands willi up at the camp over the winter.

It's going to be a long couple of years.

We have a few cases still left at the brewery. I doubt it'll last the weekend though.

Galaxy four seam was wonderful this batch. I had two four packs from the brewery and was pleasantly surprised they had them at the CBC near me and picked up more because I enjoyed it so much.

Just picked up splitter. This is one of their best ipa’s yet. I actually like this one more than six seam. I prefer under 7% abv, so that would be the only downside with this one. They are really dialing in their ipas and it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Splitter is legitimate. Tropical, soft, dry—just a touch of booziness which is definitely to my taste. A great antidote for any “new fermentation profile” blues.

Also loved my .5L Emelyn in the tasting room. Great to see them having come so far from that Everett warehouse!

Celebrating my wife's bday in Boston, but hell yeah I picked up a 4 pack of Splitter in the cooler at Eataly's wine shop after dinner. Can't wait to try...

Had Emelyn and Edgeworth in cans this past weekend, made me scratch my head and ask why I don't drink more Idle Hands beers. Somehow I've also never been to the taproom. I've got to remedy both of these issues very quickly

Via their latest email blast it looks like their lead brewer Brett is leaving for another gig in TN. He's done a great job at the helm and was a really nice guy when I spoke with him at EBF a few months back.

I have always been impressed with the balanced and deep roster of beers Idle Hands produces and I hope the new lead brewer can carry the torch.

Good for him! I've met him briefly as well and he was indeed a very mellow and nice guy. He trained under the Enlightment guy who was there before so that provided some continuity in the change over. Probably be a little trickier this time around but I'm sure they'll make it work.

No need to worry about continuity! My assistant brewer Xander is taking the helm. We've been the production team since the Malden space opened three years ago and he's even been a volunteer on the bottling line since way back in the Everett space. Plus, I have it on good authority that he brewed the most recent batch of Six Seam and everyone still seemed to like it . He'll do just fine, I know it. Cheers!

Brett - you should be proud of all you've done at Idle Hands. Good luck in Tennessee. Welcome, Xander (is it Xander or Xandre?)!

Heads up... we'll be canning Six Seam on Wednesday (7/10). We won't be brewing this one again until January 2020. So if this is your jam, come on out to the brewery to grab some. A very limited amount will hit distro.

This is, in fact, my jam.

What did you hop it with? If that's not a top-secret-proprietary-stuff sort of question.
