5 year revisit. This was fantastic. Great head retention/lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge
caramel, brown sugar, toffee, raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, brown bread dough/crust, nuts, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of molasses, leather, tobacco, herbal/floral/grassy/peppery hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, bready, grainy malts; some sticky hops, and light slickness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Minimal warming 11%, dangerously smooth sipping. Amazing style example with balanced super rich malts and fruity yeast complexity; with nice earthy hop presence against sweetness. Should get again now that it's shelf beer. 4.2

Another 5 year revisit. 2017 vintage. Awesome as usual. Great fluffy head retention/lacing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted oats, nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread crust; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, floral, grass, peppery hop, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, floral, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy, silky, bready, grainy malts/lactose; light sticky hops, and chalky char/roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness; no cloying/acrid flavors. Very smooth, no warmth of 8%. Awesome complexity of rich malts and lactose; with solid earthy hop presence against sweetness. Spot on stuff for the imperial style. 4.1

Didn't think the thread would start so late today. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, only day off in an 11 day stretch and it's rainy and cold out. Doing a 17 vs 18 CBS tasting, both bottles courtesy of @jvgoor3786. Cheers, all.

Amazing NEIPA. Aromas and flavors of big mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slight lingering resins/rinds near the end of the glass. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Very smooth/soft feel, minimal warming 7%. Citra, Wai-iti, and Amarillo profile. Amazingly juicy and lightly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone, not overly sweet from lingering dryness. They always do an awesome job on NEIPAs.

Fantastic DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, minimal hop astringency. Pretty aggressive, but easy drinking. Minimal warming 9.4%. Awesomely juicy, dank, and vibrant Simcoe/Amarillo hop complexity; nice malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Not as amazing as I remember when I first had it, but still really outstanding classic hopped DIPA. 6 months old and still holding up amazingly.

Would like to see a new album next year. Nothing been going on since their drummer left a while ago, but they got a new one this year.

Outstanding IPA. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, light green pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, toasted biscuit malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds, light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Insanely smooth and pretty soft, minimal warming 7%. Amazing showcase of Ekuanot/Azacca, against the base beer's Columbus/Simcoe. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great bready malt balance, light residual sweetness with increasing dryness. Amazing Midwest style example all the way through. Would buy a 2nd pack.

Amazing as usual this year. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, green pepper, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Crisp/drying finish and never astringent on bitterness. Amazing juicy, vibrant, and dank hop profile; refreshingly drinkable for an IPA even at 7.7%. Mosaic and Equinox hops are my favorite of all time. They have been changing around the hops every year; but as long as those two stay, I don't care much. Bought 2 packs immediately this year, and got a 3rd a bit later. Will always be a top favorite, along with Born Again.

When opting for brunch, it's always a tough call for me between Bloody Mary and beer.

Going with beer right now. Not ruling out the former in the near future, though.
