I've been going to 4 Elf since '13 and so far this year Dark Horse hasn't announced anything related to bottles or limits and the party is Saturday. Anyone have any scoop on production problems, infection issues, etc?

They probably realized people mainly go for the bottle share, lol.

    Huh?

BRMBA Bourbon, Rum Maple Barrel Aged Plead the Fifth Imperial Stout – 14% ABV
Not only did this beer play in a Bourbon Barrel for patent pending amount of time, but it also stayed a copy righted amount of time in a Rum Barrel and then after all that play time it had to do a trademarked stint in a Maple Bourbon Barrel. So think of the flavors and complexity of BBA Plead the Fifth and then imagine the added flavors from its time in the Rum Barrel and then the best part the flavors and aromas its trademarked stint in the Maple Bourbon Barrel, which we aged maple syrup we make at Dark Horse Farms, located about 7 miles northeast of Marshall. This Beer is a treat for sure, so it’s time to stop thinking about it and be sure you get one.

Pretty sure he’s talking about regular Bourbon Plead. Not this Frankenstein rum barrel.

It's bourbon, rum, and maple barrels.

I'd imagine they would have listed it if they had planned on releasing plain barrel-aged Pt5. But who knows?

Yeah - regular ass BBPt5. Historically they'll let you buy 2 cases of BBPt5 and 2 4-packs of any variants like Bourbrum. The order form is coming so I guess we'll see what they plan on doing.

I've never been. Do they usually release the allotments for orders before you get there to fill out an order form?

They post a copy of the order form. You can fill out order forms that they have on-site starting at 6pm on Friday. You then pick up your order on Saturday.

Or you can just show up on Saturday and fill out and order form, and pick your beer up in a an hour or 2. The last 2 years, there’s been no need to show up the day before.

    I recommend going. It’s a great time.

Yes normally release allotment amounts as well as down to the ounce of each one available. Haven't done that yet this year.

I'm not a bourb-rum fan, but the maple has me inclined to want to try it. But unless they've replaced regular BBPT5 with this (IE...made in large volume like past BBPT5 releases), I'm not going to bother showing up on Saturday as it will be long gone.

My guess is it will be available Saturday. The turnout last year was nowhere near where it was in last years

DH posted that all allotments must be picked up by 8pm Saturday. I don't remember for sure, but that seems pretty early compared to years past. I've always gone to the party, then walked over to pick up my bottles whenever we're ready to leave. Seems like a recipe for error to set a hard deadline to pick up bottles when the party doesn't end for several more hours after that. Oh, wait, we're talking about DH - sketchy planning and last minute organization is what they do. Since I have conflicting plans on Friday evening, maybe I won't even bother to stop by later on Friday to fill out an order form, and just go a couple days later to pick up the residual orders that will inevitably remain from people missing the deadline.

I share the same concern about "regular" BBPt5. Seems odd there is no mention of it at all. I'm really not all that interested in this variant so sadly I might skip this year. I hope DH posts something soon about them having this or not. I hope it didn't get infected or something like that.

I still have 5 out of 6 four packs from last year. I think the reason the turnout gets lower each year is BBPt5 just isn't that good. It was a bigger deal a few years ago. Now it doesn't hold up to the rest rest of the field. Every time I think about drinking one I just reach for a BCS or one of the 9,436,543 other locally available BA stouts instead.
