I traded Damon b3 for 2 cans of InPerp and 2 cans of some other Treehouse beer that was also new at the time. Fortunately I was lucky enough to trade for another bottle of Damon around the same time (thanks @jhavs ) but after consuming it...I realized I had made a terrible mistake. Lesson learned: do not trade hype hops for stouts!
Plenty, but hey sometimes you give up a bunch, sometimes you get a bunch. Most recently I sent reserve 17 + Coco Rye Parabala + Pirate Bomb for 1 can of King Julius Also regret trading all my coco vibes so quick. In another month they'll be going 1:1 with BBT, lol
My biggest regret is sending a Damon to some jerk from MA with an avatar from a movie I like..... Jk, you’re one of the few I have no problem sharing my HF bottles with! A regret I do have was a lot of good beer for a MD B3. I really wanted to get a MD, and was happy to make the deal, but in hindsight B3 is widely considered a poor batch and they were 12oz bottles, so I didn’t get great value.
For me, it has to be Orange Wax Assassin for Greatest Teachable Moments... it definitely will be my greatest teachable moment in beer trading, don't pre-trade for dark lord variants.
Never regretted trading beer for beer: most such exchanges are known for unknown, so it's bound to work out well sometimes & poorly sometimes. Though I never (or nearly never) trade stouts for hops, or go all-in for the latest craze. The only regrets I have are trading with people who turn out to suck. I've only had a handful of these in almost nine years of trading, but dealing with assholes tends to stick with me.
This is pretty much me as well. I don't do a lot of trading, and when I do it's always $4$. So I have no regrets. Sure, I've obtained some duds over the years (one of my long time trading partners in SEPA is a Spring House club member, and while I've gotten some great beers from them, there have been some real duds as well), but I figure that's on me, as it was my decision to take the beer. To date, I've not had the misfortune of dealing with any assholes (though I know there are plenty of them out there - just read over the Bad Trader forum). Knock on wood.
ive been trading for so long its more than evened out. in fact there's a lot of awesome people in the beer community where id say ive been pleasantly surprised WAY more than ive regretted. plus even if you send something you regret later, theres always great beer to come.
Always thought this was fairly standard guideline...don't trade stouts for hops Sure many do it anyway
Only trade I still regret having made was the one where I traded away a beer that I previously did not have. It was the one and only time I’ve ever done that (and will ever do). I traded away an Ardea Insignis.
About 2 years ago, I remember reading a post from some guy in a thread similar to this one, that he traded away all four SR-71 bottles he had, thinking it was going to be easy to just reacquire one. I should have learned from that, but had to make my own mistake (although it wasn’t quite as severe as his).
