10 case limit is just stupid, especially for a BA stout/porter. Probably trying to drive hype so they can distribute it later in 25 dollar bombers.

Panther Cub, for the price, is a great beer. I bought 2 cases. No problem getting it either as there were only 10 people in line when Founders opened. Founders was doing howler fills too.

I got there half hour early or so. Bought 10 case limit. Brought no mules. Brought a dolly because I had to park two blocks away and didn't want to carry 10 cases to my car. Got a case for my buddy who was working, a couple cases for my beer friends in Ann Arbor, got a case or two worth of bottles for my regular trading partners that expressed interest in a 6 pack that I'm packing up to send them at cost right now, and a couple for myself to drink and throw in as extras in trades.

I'm sorry you think I'm ruining the beer community.

Honestly, founders is definitely at fault for setting the limit of 10 cases pp of sought after beer.

But god damn dude, 10 cases? Regardless of your intentions if I was behind you in line and you bought the last 10 cases you bet you’d be getting an earfull from me.

Be mad about what they set a limit at if you want but the reality is there was essentially 10 people waiting when they opened, if you wanted the beer show up when they open and you could have bought whatever you wanted for you and your buddies. There we're zero people that got there when they opened for a sought after beer and didn't get whatever they wanted.

People will complain about anything. More BA stouts, more limited distro, better price point, smaller format, let me buy more (but not too much so that I can sleep in and show up whenever I want to get it).

I'd be pretty disappointed if I was going on a trip to founders, asked "btw, do you have any 6 packs of a brewery only beer" and got the answer "No, we ran out one day in because we sold it by the pallet." Unless theres weekly releases, it's just dumb to screw over your non truck chasing customers that actually come to your brewery. (Peoples trade lists don't bring many repeat customers)

Ultimately, I'm not near them so I'd be unlikely to buy this beer anyway. I just find it to be poor business imo.

Shitlords buying ten cases? Please. That would imply secondary demand. I suspect 99% of purchases >1 case were to hook up buddies and ty beers for trade partners. Everyone who made an effort to get some, got some. I get Founders has been on an epic losing streak with its releases. This was not one of them.

Uh. Not quite. I got to the Detroit location at 1:20 on Saturday and it was sold out. I made a reasonable attempt to buy 2 six packs and was shut out. Had a glass of it at the bar along with the mint stout. Both decent but not mind blowing. Anybody buying more than a case is a hoarder in my opinion. Oh and beer traders are the worst.

What about the other 3 cases???

I've often bought beer for buddies at releases that they can't make it to, but I don't think I've ever bought 4 times as much for others as I did for myself. At some point, I'd just tell people they need to put in the effort to get there themselves, just as I did. Maybe I'm a jerk, though (scratch that, many people here already KNOW I'm a jerk).

I do find a 10 case limit is silly...just put no limits on it, or put it at a few case limit.

So you're saying anyone who really wanted the beer should have been there in person when it opened? Does that apply to all your buddies that you bought for? A guy who physically went to Founders got shut out because someone bought it all up for his buddies who didn't.

    Neckbeard shitlord confirmed.

In one breath he talks about how he bought cases for his buddies who were working or couldn't make it there, and "regular trading partners" whom he's not actually trading it to, but shipping it to at cost.

In the next, he says that anyone who wanted the beer should have been there at open to get it themselves.

Well which is it, shitlord?

10 cast limits = fucking stupid.

He's also been on here for 11 years and has a whopping 60 karma, and 97 posts. I'd say most his time on here is probably just lurking for release info so he can flip for max profitz.

I will echo that the 10 case limit was stupid. A limit like that does something to people's brains.
They think, "A limit?! Damn ... I should max out, just in case" (thinking back to the 5 case limit at oddside scenario a couple years ago).

Knowing how much beer they had, they should have set a more reasonable limit to get this into more hands of their customers, and for it to last longer to again, spread out to more of their customers.

If anybody wanted 10 cases with a smaller limits, I am sure they would have found a way to do it. Bring a mule, come back again, change your shirt, etc.

In the end, founders goal is to sell beer, they did it. Now it is not taking up floor space, and they have their money. All while pissing off a super small piece of their customer base.

It would be an interesting test case in behavioral theory, but I bet if there was no limit it would have sold out less quickly. Maybe not by too much, but I bet the number of people who would have gone over ten cases is less than the people who would have gotten less in a different scenario.

Yeah. Limits generate hype. People think it's more rare with a limit applied to it. And therefore purchase the full limit allowed to maximize their amounts of something "rare". I agree. Would definitely be a cool test in behavioral theory.
