Regular seems to be pretty readily available at Jewel and BCS. If you want to venture into the city at all, I’ve seen a few Binny’s that have had 2017 barleywine in addition to stacks of 2018 BCS.

I was able to pick up a case of regular 2018 at Meijer for $10.49 ea. Now I can drink it more often instead of saving it for a holiday or special occasion! Thanks all!

Honestly, I'd rather have a case of regular than multiples of variants.

I didn't go looking for BCBS for this reason. Our area got 30 cases with at least 15 going to various Meijer stores. For the most part Meijer has no idea or doesn't care how to handle this type of beer. I'm glad you got yours but that should not happen in areas where so little is available.

I suspect the GI distributor in your area is the the Miller-coors distributor. Still hung on to the GI account after the acquisition and is now getting screwed on BCBS by AbInbev.

    Speaking from experience.

Pretty sure he came to Illinois to find it. I may be wrong though. But he mentioned he was looking for it in the southeast Chicago area.

As someone that has gathered in quite a few variants over the past few years (spending a shit-ton of $$), I agree. Not only is 2018 regular fantastic, it is fun to "play" with homemade variants using a variety of methods. If you don't have a french press, they can be had for $10-$50, and there are many sites with info/advice on adding flavors/adjuncts to your beer.
My easy method to get coffee BCBS is to carefully open a bottle (to keep carbonation) and add a few whole coffee beans, then recap tightly for 48-72 hours (depending on how much coffee you flavor you want). Then pour gently with a hand strainer to capture the beans.
...you can then dry out the beans and grind them for a BCBS flavored coffee a few days later...

Pretty sure he found it in Chicago.

In Chicago, regular is a shelf turd - not a slight, it’s the best beer in the world - and will be for the next few months in chicago.

We got 1 bottle of regular and a variant where I live in MI. I had been on a list for 2 months and spend at least $200 per month at the local mom and pop store. I knew that in the IL area lots more of the regular was available and sitting on floors or shelves. So I took the 2 1/2 drive from MI to get some beers that were readily available to anyone else willing to do the same. With that said, I have heard of folks having BCS sit on the floor for months with no takers while other areas like SW MI sell out within 20 minutes. Why not re-distribute to other areas begging for the beer. Lastly is the manager said buy up as much as you want....they had 10 cases from the second drop on the end cap and he wanted it gone!

I guess I inferred incorrectly that this one case purchase went down in Michigan. Maybe some will still be around next time I visit Chicago.

From what the head of R&D at Goose has said at least on a podcast, it won’t be sitting around like it was last year. He said they were redistributing more to areas that sold out quicker, and implied there would be more draft. I’m sure they can’t perfectly predict that so it’s likely to be better overall but I’m sure could be problematic in smaller sales areas.
