Amazing batch this year. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, grass, and peppercorn. Light herbal, peppery, roast, char bitterness; and cinnamon, bourbon, oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body. Very creamy, silky, velvety, rich amazing mouthfeel. Light sticky spice, chalky char/roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. No acrid/astringent flavors. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.8% and cinnamon spiciness; no barrel booziness. Dangerously smooth sipping. This is even better than I remember when I reviewed it 2 years ago. Pretty much perfect balance of rich malts, cocoa, coffee, spices, and barrel presence/integration. A lot silkier/velvety, and not as drying on spices. 4.35

Amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, pear, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, brown bread, and light clove/peppery yeast spice. Light peppery yeast/oak tannin spice on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-plus bodied. Very smooth, creamy, silky, slick in the mouthfeel. Light spicy yeast/tannic oak dryness, never cloying. Incredible balance between the barrel and classic quad complexity. Minimal warming ABV, no barrel booze. Well attenuated and not overly sweet. One of my favorite BBA Quads of all time. Got my first 2018 pack last week, but still have a few 2017 around. I bought a lot of it last year, but also traded a lot of it away lol :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Insane NEDIPA as always. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied creamy, bready, grainy wheat/oats in the mouthfeel. Slight hop stickiness, with a touch of increasing lingering bitter dryness. Zero hop astringency. Dangerously drinkable for 9.3%, minimal warming ABV. One of the absolute best in the style I've had, smoothness is unmatched. Pure citrus/tropical fruit juice hop flavors, with a touch of dankness. Never overly sweet/heavy feeling on malts for the ABV; perfectly balanced. Super soft mouthfeel. Old Nation definitely has the best MI NEIPAs.

Taste is of floral, spicy hops well integrated together. I also get a bit of grapefruit zest and something that tastes like peach blossoms smell. Fairly complex and these flavors blend well together. Just a small amount of bready malt but enough to offset the hops somewhat.
A Pale Ale that another brewer might well call an IPA, which is just an observation on my part. It is a well crafted brew however labeled.

    Hey Sunday BA's

Went to 39th Annual Tuba Christmas here in downtown Akron yesterday afternoon - always fun and festive! And some (dreaded) shopping afterwards and a dinner stop at Lock 15 Brewery

Mornin’ BA! Starting out with a Lumberjack Breakfast. This beer is incredibly good. The coffee and maple are spot on and not overpowering.
