Happy Thursday ba. Getting into it with some local brews. You So Hazy, ipa featuring alpha aroma, comet, galazy, and Tahoma hops, from Barrage brewing. All the hops are locally farmed too. Decent drinking with lots of tropical fruit notes and a bit more bitter than is the norm for the style,

Sticking with the local stuff here ba. Black Friday, imperial stout, from Long Ireland brewing. The first year they put it in cans. A little chalky but also lots of good and robust chocolate malts that drinks decently enough. Probably the best beer that they make,

Ok, same brewery, different expression. Frankly I think these folks are using the same yeast strain for this Southern Blonde Ale as they used for the German Style Amber Ale I had earlier today. That and both brews are oddly imbalanced. Neither name is accurate to style in my view but those were the ones chosen by the brewer. They've upgraded premises, graphics and marketing but seem to be a bit less scrupulous about QC.

It was inevitable...Mrs. Z tracked me down mid beer at the pub, she graciously drank a tonic water, “suggested” that it was time to move along, and the shopping continued...

Home now with a “Radical Road” Triple Hopped Pale Ale, from Stewart Brewing (6.4%) Loanhead, Edinburgh, Scotland:

Earthy hops and lite lemon peel bitterness, but mostly a watery, perfectly fine poundable beer, that lacks depth and flavour and would likely get a “meh” response back in the States...

Olde Hickorys Imperial Stout. A delicious behemoth of a beer, tastes of honey, sweet chocolate and dark fruits. Almost as good as Lindley Park.

Well, post-dental surgery, I'm ready for some more beer. :grimacing:

New Holland Dragon's Milk Reserve - Banana Coconut

I am not a huge fan of this beer (or in Dragon's Milk, in general). I know it advertises "real" banana, but it just comes off tasting a little artificial to me. Different strokes, I suppose. I mean, I don't hate it by any stretch.

But, it's a BBA imperial stout clocking in at 11% ABV, and I doubt it's going to improve with age, so I may as well kill one now.

    Cheers!

As a Guinness Stout drinker for 30+ years I can assure you that this Bulleit Bourbon Barrel version is nothing close to the original .
It is so thin that it’s closer to a Scotch or Brown ale aged in bourbon barrels .
I have to say though that I absolutely love it .
I’ve been sitting here sipping it and trying to really enjoy my one chilled bottle .
The Bulleit bourbon flavor is very pronounced and gives it an exquisite flavor in my opinion .
I’m a bourbon drinker , so I may be partial to it more so than others ..
If they could package and sell this at around $14.99 a four pack they would have a homerun . At $6 a bottle it’s tasty as hell , but a bit pricey considering the other options ..
I’m glad I gave it a try though and probably will again at some point .

    CHEERS !!
