Still debating if I want to buy one since historically they've been $140

I’m in the same boat. Would be cool to have one to take to a big share I’m going to for 3sons lumberjack weekend but only 1-2 of the mags listed I really have interest in. Not sure it’s worth freezing in line for for hours either way but especially if I missed out on the one I want.

Magnums are something that I will just never get. It's a wierd form of conscpicuous consumption (to me). Also, I'm not in that camp that thinks that having pouring (or doming?) a magnum makes you seem (feel?) like a balluuuuh. I just don't get it.

To each their own. Hope those that get them want them.

makes zero sense. want a magnum of balaton to take to a share? cough up $140 (and let’s be real, by now there probably $150). you could just buy 4 balaton 375s for $80 and pour out the same amount of liquid.

Anybody buying mags of 375s that are still available is a jabroni.

Doesn't make sense to me either...now only if my FOMO understood it too!

In this case, what in particular do you have fear of missing out on?

We bought some magnums for our wedding reception a couple of years back. We had Fuzzy and some Hill Farmstead mags. They looked great sitting on the bar, created some conversation and made some nice candles afterwards.

I usually grab an A&G mag here and there to open at parties but the price discrepancy isn't quite as bad on those. I would not buy one for $150 from SP but I can understand people doing so for various reasons.

Changing the subject... anyone know of a bar semi near Side Project that has TVs that would let me watch a basketball game at 11am on ESPN2 AND might have a good bourbon selection? Would love an 11am pour of George T. stagg or Pappy 15 to get my weekend going, lol.

If not, preference to best food and maybe a decent beer. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I gotta sit this round out. I still have my Fuzzy mag from 2014 I believe. Didn't know when I was going to open it then and I still don't know today. Couple that with how crazy it'll be and not knowing if I'll get to try the bottles I want I'll stay in WI. I will be thinking about y'all while sippin' on some CW Maple though.

Maybe Llwellyns in Webster Groves, though I don't think they'll be pouring the whiskey you mentioned haha. Also, Tamm Ave Bar/Mac's Locals Eat in Dogtown would be a good choice. Both the mentioned options are fairly close

Wish I could’ve been there, the new Ds sound excellent. For those who went, how much were the magnums running?

$100-140 depending on which brand. the new terrior projects were $100. the fencerow was $120 and SpontanFermier was $140. those are the only four i saw.

did anyone else get to try D6 yesterday? i was really looking forward to it and was very surprised at it. look & feel we’re spot on for a derivation, but it had no smell or taste of the advertised adjuncts. was closer to BA 17 from perennial. smell and taste were all mint. it did have a little chocolate going on but mostly mint. for those who have had it fresh, is this just a change due to age or perhaps we got a bad bottle? for those who had it yesterday, did you have a similar experience?

I’m glad I’m not losing my mind. I had a pour of D6 on Black Friday and another yesterday and got what I described as peppermint or spearmint both times. It’s good but not what i expected. @OakvilleKGB had pours with me both times and didn’t detect what I was talking about and neither did another buddy or two was with me each time.

Got a bottle on Sunday, and this was not my experience. The cinnamon was there, but quite subdued. I enjoyed it, as it battled with the chocolate. Both flavors would be prevalent at different times, and during different sips. So very well balanced. Also, and I'm sure I'm nerding/snobbing out at this point, but D6 had a slick oiliness and uncarbbed aspect to it that is missing from some of the newer Derivations.

I was a little bummed when I learned that they tapped D3(my personal favorite) and 5 candles after I left, but oh well, such is life.

And lastly the funny story of someone dropping their magnum after coming into the brewery, only to have the cap pop off and beer start spewing. That was probably the only "sucks to be you buddy" moment of the day.

Had a great time, so a big thank you to all the Side Project staff!

The first time I had it was exactly the adjuncts listed as a chocolate and vanilla bomb with a touch of cinnamon bakery finish almost like a chocolate covered cinnamon roll and then Black Friday was mellowed cinnamon but the vanilla was still huge. At the Anniversary party, I didn't get any cinnamon at all and would say it was like a subdued 5 Candles by direct comparison that day.
