I only go to Burgundian two or three times a year (can’t take the kid there and not high on our list of places to go on a date night), but I’ve never had a problem there. Same with Brouwers.

I'm glad to hear it. Truly. I want our local places to do well. And I used to be one who defended Brouwer's, as I too never had a problem there, until recently. I noticed a dropoff in service and an increased amount of attitude coming from bartenders. So, I wrote them off.

Burgundian has been more hit or miss since they opened IMO. But, as I said previously, our experiences the last few times there were all negative --- bad and slow service, incorrect food items served, all around poor attitudes from bartenders...

And I'm willing to give a bit of slack since I know how hard these jobs can be...but for bartenders to be dismissive, inconvenienced, and aloof is a bridge too far for me. And again, as I said previously, there are just too many better places.

Just don't ever "sit" at the overcrowded side-bars at Brouwers. They are incredibly uncomfortable and you are rewarded with a near complete lack of service. And yes the employees will give you attitude if you try to ask them where your server is.

I actually witnessed a customer being told they had to go walk up to the bar to order drinks if they were seated at the side-bars.

Which is not remotely true, they have assigned servers to those spots.. they just for some reason treat you like you are some sort of asshole for sitting there.

Oh and mantra I do think you should add the Flat Stick pubs to the list.

Note: I've never been there.. but I've met and hung out with one of the owners and he's incredibly cool and dedicated to "local craft." They do not serve any beer not made in Washington (or at least made in partnership with Washington breweries like 3-Way.)

I like Flatstick a lot (only ever been to the Pioneer Square spot), I'm surprised I left it off.

I haven't been in quite a while, and more often for crowlers than drinks at the bar, but the Kirkland FSP folk are good people. Jeff usually tries to guess which crowler I'll ask for before I order, and he's right more often than not.
