I'm starting to see more and more Bruery options in NC (GSO-CH-WS). I.E. TOD, Oude etc. Has anybody come across 5 golden rings in NC? Or any of the other christmas lineup. I've got 4 calling birds however, I'm curious about others. 5 golden in particular.

Not super sure, but now that it is being carried by a great distributor, NC is seeing A LOT more of their stuff and it's actually fresh when we see it! Was there a certain one that you were looking for other than 5 golden Rings?

3 french hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.

was that a rhetorical question?

    Yep!

If you really are looking for any of their others it's probably going to be hard to find them, unless someone has them buried away in their cellar (nope I don't have any buried away in my cellar, unfortunately)! I am not sure how the 3 French Hens would be doing right now, and the 2 turtle doves has got to have lost something by now, but not sure, they may be amazing right now if you can find them!!

will these bottles ever hit the under $20 mark? I enjoy what The Bruery offers, but their price point makes it hard for me to ever buy them more than once.

A lot of their offerings are under 20 [saison rue, de lente, autumn maple]. If you consider thier more expensive beers [black Tuesday, Oude tart, fruet] with the time and process that goes into it, not to mention quality, they aren't really overpricing their beers

I heard that Hottenroth is their best seller. Is there a reason that we never see it in NC? Reasonable price. Excellent Berliner. Seems like it disappeared after their first shipment to the state. I want more.

plus the size of their bottles. They only do 750s, and those are usually a bit more expensive. Plus you have to factor in shipping. There are so many amazing beer choices, even Belgian styles, in NC.

I know I fought and pushed for Great Lakes before and after I moved here last summer, but thats because I needed my great basic style beers and Christmas Ale since I dont have access to Olde Mecklinburg.

$2 or $20 bottle just ends up as yellow piss in my toilet. Bruery is way overpriced.

With that mentality, might as well drink bud light and complete the circle.

Not really. You can pick just about any of their beers and list equivalent beers that are much more reasonably priced. Why would I ever buy a decent American tripel for the same price or more than far superior Belgian examples? Or over La Fin Du Monde, which is half the price and also far better? I've enjoyed most of what I've had from the Bruery and loved a couple of them, but I pretty much never buy their bottles due to price

It depends on where you are in the country, but going on North Carolina prices at Total Wine, La Fin Du Monde is $9.99 for 750mL and Trade Winds Tripel 750mL is $9.99. Tripels from Belgium tend to be $11-14. If you're comparing La Fin Du Monde in 12 oz. bottles, it is certainly less expensive in that format.

While we do our best to be competitive with the industry in pricing to wholesalers, the wholesalers and retailers have the ability to price how they'd like, so our beers tend to be sold on a higher markup than higher volume brands.

    Cheers,

which was precisely my point. Your bottle format might incite some sticker shock amongst people, but thats the nature of the beast. The beer is great and worth the cost of the bottle, but when people have money problems they tend to rip apart the expensive beers and call them overpriced instead of just save and buy it. Its the magic of people here.

    Cheers mate.

I've not been to a Total Wine in NC, but if those prices are accurate, then they are quite a bit different than other stores. The Total Wines I've been to in VA tend to be on par or cheaper than smaller stores. I've not seen Trade Winds for cheaper than $11-12, which is the same as Tripel Karmeliet or Westmalle Tripel or the like. I've also never seen LFDM more than $6-7 for a 750 and $10 for a 4-pack. It may just that your beers are more expensive on the East Coast, which I've seen before. When I went to Michigan, I was surprised to see Jolly Pumpkin beers sitting on shelves for $9 per bottle when they're all $11-12+ per bottle here. NC generally seems on par with or lower than the average price for many breweries, but it's not unheard of to have some beers to be higher than average here.
