    I'm sure it's a joke.

The Untappd description is hilarious, by the way. Over 60 days in a barrel, you say?!

What's the minimum amount of time liquid must see a barrel to be considered barrel-aged? 1 day?

If it is, it's a dick move - regardless of how much Wild Barrel has dropped the ball on communication and meeting expectations, rumors like an infection spread quickly and keep popping up long after they've been proven false. Messing with people's business and livelihood just for the lulz is fucked.

My comments, were directed at him/her, not you. Figured that was obvious.

Is it even that "long"? I thought it could essentially be run through an oak tube and be called "barrel aged".

Wasn't Three Chiefs first official release "barrel-aged" but really only rested a month in a barrel?

My sources say it was in the barrel for a lot longer than 60 days

This is the worst membership ever. Before we got our first "barrel aged" bottle, I asked for a refund twice, and was ignored. Such bullshit. And the first bottle is basically shitty homebrew with some wine added to it. So obviously brewed in haste just to pacify a collectively growing groan from members.

This is nothing compared to what J. Wakefield did to the people that signed up for his club first year

I may be reading that incorrectly, but does that mean they didn't give an actual description of the first release until people kept asking them about it post-release?

Either way, it's cool that he put in the bare minimum in barrel aging on purpose.

Yikes. How could it be worse? Did they just start showing up to the members' houses to steal their beer?

Everything but. If he would have thought to try it, he probably would have

There is an incredibly entertaining thread about it on another beer website.

I mean, throw us some free haze cans.. Something.. We helped infuse your brewery with early capital.. If it wasn't for this membership shit keeping me away, I would actually go there, and take friends with me. Instead, I just wait for emails to see how much longer I have to deal with this place until I can just ignore them. No desire to give them any more money.

And the first bottle was so mediocre and lame that it really made the whole situation worse. Yes, that's exactly what we were waiting for.. A thin, boozy stout that basically rinsed out a wine barrel. Talk about having your finger on the pulse of beer trends.

I'll have to check that out. Obviously, JWB's reputation has recovered tenfold, but I doubt this place has the goods to do that. These remaining bottles better blow me away. They've certainly had enough fuckin time to get them right.

I'd like to read about the JWB stuff if anyone could PM me a link to the thread.

I almost signed up for this given 'Dr' Bill's involvement but ultimately decided against it. Seems like his name is tarnished with a whole bunch of folks given this debacle of a 'club'.

Anyone know if J.Wakefield made amends to his first year members?

I think we're beyond that point, Bill. And I think I speak for everyone when I say we understand that these beers take time and we're NOT asking you to rush them (60 days?), but the lack of communication has been really frustrating. We don't even know what we're getting yet. Even a list of beers you have planned, with some accurate and detailed descriptions. We supported you before your doors were even opened, so I don't think it's so much to ask for an extra email here and there.

What's being brewed for the members? What kind of barrels? Bourbon? Wine? If so, from which distillery? What adjuncts? A rough timeline on their availability? A member-only hour at the beginning of the day with some cool stuff on tap? We just don't have anything to be excited about.

How about closing for a day and getting your team together to figure this all out?

We're supposedly getting an email this week, and there will be a BA stout to taste at their anniversary party in 2 weeks.
