The Brut thread in the general talk forum has got me thinking, what are the best California versions of this style you all have tried. Whether it was one off brewery only or a single canning run, who have you seen do it well? Anyone doing a solid one with any regularity yet?

I tried one brut ipa and I hope the style dies.

Agreed. Can't stand it and I don't know why certain breweries continue to make this crap. Hazy ipas were bad enough but this style has GTG !

I thought the ones I tried from Green Cheek and Beachwood were both very good. Both were bone dry and crisp, which is a refreshing change from all of the hazies.

The brut scene is not as hardcore as the hazy scene. Nothing wrong with both. But wasn’t there brett ipa there for a second? Or was that something else?
Anyhow, I have tried a handful of brut’s. Unsung, Green Cheek and Beachwood’s Strange Brut are good for brut styles. Looking forward to trying BW’s 12 Brut DIPA today. I prefer the haze over brut and clear over haze. Nothing’s better than a fresh clean clear west coast ipa.

As stated in the other thread, I think the only regularly brewed one is Social Kitchen's Puttin' on a Spritz. Since they created the style, I'm not surprised.

I think my favorite might be Cellarmaker's Less than Zero, as it's hopped with Centennial, Simcoe, Motueka and Galaxy.

My favorite's probably Science Magic from Brouwerij West, and most examples of the style I've had have been fine, but nothing to go out of the way for. I'd rather see Sour IPA's proliferate in 2019.

Agreed, I tried some Hudson Valley sour IPAs recently and they were a game changer for me. Would love for that style to make it out here. Jealous of the folks in NY that have access to Hudson Valley.

If they ski, then yes please keep them all in Mammoth.
