    Guinness West Indies Porter:

A great tasting Porter and a buy at 1 pound 80 pence/pint at the grocery store!

[IMG] A 7% Holiday Stout brewed with ginger snap cookies, orange peel, and cinnamon. Poured into a 13 oz Kettle Tulip glass canned on 12/19/18. Pours a very attractive slip black with a 2 finger light tan head that leaves nice thin webs of lace as it slowly settles with incredible retention. 4.25

Smell is maple syrup and ginger snap, hints of of orange but not getting any cinnamon. 4

Taste follows, but maple syrup and ginger dominates, hints of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla in the long lingering finish. Maple and ginger hang on the tongue after each sip. 4

Mouthfeel is a solid medium, gentle carbonation, maybe a tad dry, and drinks larger than its 7% ABV. 4.25

Overall this is a nice holiday stout, especially if you dig maple and ginger bread cookies. I would recommend it to the adventures beer drinkers. 4 Cheers all.

Starting off the long weekend with Rise from Whalers Brewing in Rhody.
Excellent, true to style APA. Competes with Peeper from Maine Beer Co.
    Enjoy the holiday, Prost.

Finishing up work for the day and cracking this beer that was WAY back in a fridge at work. Bottled January 12, 2015. Must have been a leftover from a party. Actually tasty given the age - a nice surprise. Cheers!

Good to hear from you Mr. Hunter. I read your post the other day about the lack of good/consistent IPA’s coming out these days.
I appreciate your input. I often feel the same. But I also feel that my palate is ever changing.
Really like seeing out posts and input.
    Cheers bro!!

I was mainly referring to NEIPA. I think the sheep will stand in line for anything these days. Not to pick on Trillium, but I'm telling you, that beer is not the same. Is it still good? Yes. Is it what it once was? Not even remotely. And I'm not trying to get into a debate with anyone. I'm just pointing out what I believe as fact.

Thirsty Dog Flanders Red. This was very nice. Solid head retention, minimal lacing. Flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy cherries, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, plum, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, brown sugar, toasted bread malts; lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; fruit tang; and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced grainy malt, lactic acid, fruit tang, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy/tannic dryness, minimal puckering sourness. Very smooth, not overly lactic, 5%. Maybe just a touch too vinegary than I would have preferred, but not overwhelming. Well balanced Brett/bacteria complexity and juicy/jammy cherries; nice oak presence and solid malt backbone against acidity. 3.85

Paused my festivities awhile ago to get some things done, now back at it. It was a very nice day here weather wise, I mowed the weeds and leaves.

After their fantastic South Islay Scotch BA RIS, this Rye Bourbon BA RIS was a bit of a disappointment, just being too floral and hoppy withouth enough of that BA character shining through. A real shame.
