    Hi all,

So I just wanted to warn you guys for a bad trader. He lives in Chicago, that's why I'm posting in this subforum. I'm aware of the bad trader list but I know the guy is setting up a lot of trades at the moment and I'm trying to expose him as much as possible so he doesn't steal anyone else's beer.

    So, first the story:

I mentioned I had some Fou Foune for trade. He BM'ed me that he was interested in a trade. We are talking about late september here. At the 10th of october we reached a deal. My part was 2x Fou Foune, 1x Mamouche and 1x St lamvinus + some random locals. His part was 1x 18 EC 2012,
1x BCBS Bramble Rye, 2x BCBS regular, 1x Parabola, 2-3x Zombie Dust + some locals. On the 19th of october I let him know his package is ready to be send. That same day he messages me my box is also ready to go. On the 25th of october I send him his tracking number. He responds with a quick thank you and that is the last message I received. I send 7 messages asking about his part of the trade and he doesn't even respond once. In the upper right you can see if he checked the messages and I saw him checking it but didn't bother to respond. It's the 12th of november right now and I gave up hope this guy is ever gonna send my beer.

My guess is that the guy has several BA accounts and that he sets up a couple of trades on 1 account and then ditches that account after it has been reported. I think it's disgusting behaviour and I really hope I'm wrong on this one.

So my solution to this is exposing the guy behind this. If he doesn't mind sending his full name + address to random people so they can send him beer, he wouldn't mind his full name + address on the internet and being marked as a bad trader either. This trade cost me 230 dollar which I'm probably never gonna get back.

    Here it is:

    S. Rao
    Chicago, IL 60607

So, I've learned 2 lessons from this trade. 1) Always check someone's BA profile. If he hasn't any posts for 2 years + all his gots are out of the top 100 beers, there's something wrong. 2) Be cautious as f*ck, that's the only way you'll keep yourself safe.

    Thanks for reading!

Perhaps he will get back to you, I think it is a bit early to out him in this fashion. I do agree that it sucks, and it is possible that you did get ripped off, but things do happen, maybe he has a good reason. Also, giving his BA name(s) would probably help more than his real name and address. I hope everything works out , and this is just some sort of misunderstanding.
    Cheers!

Edit:I missed his BA name in the post, disregard that. Did this guy have a trade history?, if not he should have sent first, always a good idea to make a new(er) trader send first. I usually am willing to send the same day, after receiving a tracking number, but never first to a new trader.

This has been hashed out ad nauseum, but it is NOT too early to out this character. Two plus weeks with no communication after a box is sent is inexcusable. Nobody I know would want to trade with anyone who pulled that sort of crap.

Thanks for warning us about this guy, & I hope he makes good on the trade.

Agreed, I got screwed on a trade two months ago and same scenario. I gave two weeks after lack of communication, and never did get it. This ass makes good Chicago BA's look bad. Good for getting the word out early

I'm sorry man. Ive only had great trade experiences here on BA. Just learned it is faux pas not to include local extras...

There should be a way to gather points to confirm if your a good trader or not.

I am not sure why there is not some kind of a Trade History page in everyone's profile. Should need to be verified by both parties, and can be commented on and such. This would be so much easier than scanning bad trader lists, and you get the full details of a person's trade history.

I see no problem in outing someone who does not follow through on a trade and then disappears. It's practically theft and it's not like Morningstorm can just walk into a local bottle shop regularly and pick up Fou Foune (maybe he can, but he's a lucky man if thats the case).

Sorry to hear that. Hope it works out. My brother and I have been readers here for a while and just recently we started posting and are making our first trade next week.. Here's to hoping good karma comes our way and everyone elses way going forward.

I found his phonenumber in the yellow pages so I'm gonna give him a call tomorrow and see what's going on. And no, I can relatively easy pick up Fou Foune (the brewery is 100 km away from my town).

You have his address and phone number. The day after Christmas post on Craigslist that a person at his address is buying used Christmas trees for $30.00. Tell them to ring the bell multiple times because he might be sleeping. Sweet, sweet, passive, revenge.

That's like, a really evil yet genious plan. Let's try to get my beer first haha.

Look him up on FB. There is a S. rao from Chicago. Maybe you can "remind him".

I am still fairly new to trading (last few months), but the way I do it is to post on your profile everyone that you have had successful trades with. If people are still skeeved after that, they could easily BM those people to confirm that you are a creditable trade partner.
