Crystal Lakes Boathouse Reserve Rye BA Stout 2018. First year this has been available in the 4x12 canned format. A thick, oily black pour. Rye whiskey, toffee'n coffee aroma and taste. This is a bit "hot", I think a year would help. I'm saying that based on a bottle share of their 2017 Bourbon Barrel Stout a couple days ago.

Ice skating is easy. You just go as fast as possible and when you have to stop you just slam into the boards.

That place look familiar to me
Had the same cask ale some time ago. Nice indeed. Those real cask ales are a class (or style) on there own.
    Cheers!

Saison Rose' from Oxbow Brewing, sharing with my daughter. Drinking more like a sour sparkling wine than a beer. Cheers!

Compared to regular Xocoveza, Stone's Xocoveza Charred (2016 bottle) adds layers of rich caramel and bourbon to the mix which elevates the overall experience. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Decided to celebrate this Christmas Eve with Abnormal BAM3. Chewy marshmallow, subtle coffee, rich chocolate, dark fruit, and the smoothest rye whiskey barrel finish ever!

It’s the perfect treat for the wife and I today. What a great year of beer! Wishing your holidays and your beer are special ones, BAs!

    Cheers BAs

Since it didn't require any chasing around this year with plenty on the shelf, I decided to buy a couple; one to drink, one for the cellar. Aroma is whiskey with roasted malts, carmel, vanilla, dark fruits. Deep black with just a slight brown tinge around the edges with a back light. Short tan head dies quickly to a ring with an island in the middle. No lacing. Thick, chewy, substantial body initially on the tongue. Deep flavor of whiskey, roasty raisins, caramel, vanilla, and alcohol. Sweet and delicious. The finish is mild (low bitterness) with an alcohol burn. This stout is dangerously easy drinking and smooth. I had to keep reminding myself of the ABV... slowly, sip slowly!

Hazy yellow gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma like the herb section of a home garden after a light rain with a bit of citrus blossoms and pine trees just over the fence.

Taste is a complex melange of hops that closely match the scent with herbal aspects dominating. Still comes across as a pleasant mixture though. Malt is there in the body but I don't notice it very much in the taste. Hops are strong in this one but with a light handed touch, no firmness or any real bitterness for that matter which is a bit surprising considering it's 65 IBU. I get some of the usual Belgian yeast touches in the aftertaste but not a clove/banana thingy, rather like a bit of fruit in the background.
