Just tried the new Crux Tough Love this weekend. One of the better batches I've tasted in some time, with a lot of bourbon in the nose and on the palate (which IMHO is a good thing). The sweetness isn't over the top either (unlike BCBS), which I appreciate.

I mentioned it in the WBAYDN-NW thread, but I had a nice ImpStout from Ten Pin a couple nights ago, One Eyed Katy. A bit sweet, but worth a shot if you see it.

Between this, Dormancy, and From Astoria With Love, the shelfie stout game in the PNW is starting to shape up.

agreed. they have that beer dialed in . the "lost love" aged on Rye barrels is one of the best BA stouts ive had in a while.

meanwhile, in Corvallis today for business and did the customary Block 15 stop. Block Friday 2018 is excellent. 13% oat stout aged in apple brandy barrels. sometimes brandy/cognac barrels hit me the wrong way, but this one is pretty damn good. highly recommend.

sad they were sold out of imagine :slight_frown:

Tried Coldfire's recent coffee imperial this and was pretty impressed.

    Other beer's I tried today:

    2018 Abyss
    2018 Coconut B-Bomb
    2018 Coffee and Spice B-Bomb

    The coconut B-Bomb was phenomenal.

I totally agree. I picked one up on my last trip to PDX, had it a few days ago and was very impressed. As far as BCBS goes, I saw it the other day and passed. Drink local and independent ( mostly).

Was able to snag a coconut BBomb at Johns mkt last night. Clerk I didn’t recognize told me “sold out”. Saw my usual/fav bartender 3 min later and gave her some shit like “why didn’t you save me one?” . Gave me the “wait right here” look and blessed me with a bottle a few min later. Also, a different bartender that wasn’t really paying attention poured me a 12oz of Founders CBS for $5.

I heard John's had a 1 variant per person limit - so you could either get a bottle of CC or coconut.

Looks like Matchless’ Dallah Breakfast Stout is out, for those interested. The first batch was excellent!

Was just going to post about that this. They pulled off the middle eastern coffee coffee flavor really well. In general I've been really impressed with their non-ipa's as of late

Yeah, they seem to be known for their IPAs, especially hazies, but they do so many styles well.

I just had a "stroopwafel-inspired" imperial stout called Wafel Iron at Ruse Brewing. It was a collab with Moksa Brewing.

Started out really sweet, but dried out a bit through the middle and ended with delicious coffee and caramel flavors.

A bit too sweet for me to pick up any cans this time, but I will probably be tempted if I see them again in the wild.

I've thought about buying a can every time I've seen a can as I know the owner of the coffee shop that made the stroopwafel ingredient (shoutout to Prince Coffee) but was told it was VERY sweet. Might check it out now that I know it finishes a little more balanced

I hate to sound like cranky old guy, but, what the fuck is that label even about? I'm assuming it's some video game reference?

It's a Mortal Kombat reference which is a 90's video game franchise
