I first tried AB around 2001, and have been drinking it fairly regularly since then.
I have noticed over the last couple years (maybe 3?) that Arrogant Bastard has changed just a tiny bit. Has anyone else noticed this?
The change to me is a very faint pullback on the syrupy texture. The finish is lighter. I wonder if they now do something different with the malt?
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else can testify to this or what your thoughts are.
Still.....it's like the Metallica of beers, it changed everything and keeps going strong.

    Cheers,
    Nick

p.s. not sure if Greg still posts on these forums, but if he does id really like to hear his thoughts. I mean.....he'd know, right?

I had it about a year or so ago. Tasted the same to me. Harsh, chewy and aggressively bitter hopped. Takes a while to adapt but then you crave it.

Please don't compare Arrogant Bastard to Metallica, that is a grave insult to a fantastic beer :grimacing::stuck_out_tongue:!

Can't really answer your question as I never had Arrogant Bastard prior to 2017, but it's still an awesome brew and one of my favorite go-tos, as opposed to Metallica who have sucked hard ever since the Black Album.

A.B. has been an occasional treat for 4-5? years.
I have not noticed any changes, still big, bold and hopped to the hilt.

Stone has reformulated some of their flagships like Ruination....but they call them 2.0

In my opinion, if stone had changed arrogant bastard, they’d have told us about it.

I think it tastes a little different straight out of the can (ice cold) as opposed to poured into a tulip, which is how I'd drink this beer when it was a 22.

Otherwise, tastes the same to me. It's a bruiser for sure, sometimes I love it, other times I've had it, not in the right mindset and felt like I wasn't worthy. It doesn't really go with food IME, I remember having it with a bacon cheeseburger and it simply dominated a 2000cal burger. Not to be underestimated.

I was also an early fan of Arrogant Bastard. First tasting was in the late 1990's. But I haven't had it since Jan 2017.

I've pretty much walked away from Stone when they dropped Double Bastard and Old Guardian.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Stone and will drink their beer. I just don't seek them out anymore. I wouldn't mind revisiting Arrogant Bastard again.

Double Bastard and Old Guardian were fuckn' awesome brew's, they will be missed. Oaked Arrogant Bastard is pretty tasty as well.

    Cheers!

I’ve heard many things said about Arrogant Bastard but this is the first time I’ve heard it called boozy. It’s extremely bitter and hoppy but not even remotely boozy. Double Bastard, now that is boozy.

Still awesome. I don't notice any difference. The BBA version is fantastic.

100% agreement here. I absolutely loved this beer and I'm surprised it isn't listed with Stone's other disappointing beer terminations (Old Guardian, IRS, Double Bastard, etc) more often.

Still good to me. Had a six pack a few weeks ago.

A great deal in today’s beer world. $10 for 16x6.

Wish the bastardized box came back. That was an award one deal for $18-22. I bought a few

    Enjoy

Fuck, I wish I could buy a sixpack of Arrogant Bastard for 9€ in Germany :astonished::grimacing:. They are 3€ a can here and that's from Stone BERLIN... Still one of the best deals for craft beer in Germany though...

......I wonder if my palate has changed. There are so many massive beers out there now that perhaps my taste buds don't recognize AB in the same way as they did when the best beers I was drinking were Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. AB really changed the beer world for me.....opened up my eyes. I will be forever grateful.
