    Dear Lagunitas,

I really loved the High Willitized Stout. I really really loved when you were selling them at $12.99/sixer. I didn't go out looking for any this year when it was placed in the more expensive bomber format. Next year, please re-release in the previous six pack format/price. Thanks.

Lagunitas - Heineken have some good beers just not their IPA.

Could say the same about GI - Ab-InBev. Granted, I don’t follow a whole lot the beer industry in the US. Did these two aforementioned breweries sold their souls to the Macro? Probably.

I enjoy Lagunitas ever now and then for a cheap 6-pack. I always check the dates and yes I will calculate the Julian date. I do that because I've noticed a drop in quality over the past few years. I know taste is subjective, but even on draft I've noticed.

It is not just that they sold out but the owner/CEO was bragging how he would not sell out ever, period. If he just sold out he would not seem like such a douche. And the product transition would have went smoother. I still think they suck.

Or at least switch to 4-pk, even for $12, still a great deal.

I used to drink a lot Lagunitas, I was obsessed with Little Sumpin Extra. Unfortunately all of their stuff gives me terrible headaches these days, so no more Brown Shugga for me.

I used to drink a lot of Lagunitas stuff, loved the brewery. But somewhere around 2010-ish, something changed, and their beers really fell down, for me. Is it the yeast? Maybe, I dunno, but there was a definite change.

Among the many things that don't bother me: good beer; low prices; doing simple math in my head to determine bottling dates; and brewers who are loudmouths online whose loudmouthery I never see unless someone here brings it to my attention because I don't follow loudmouths online. As such, Lagunitas doesn't bother me at all and, in fact, I like it.

A little shot from the bow with the simple math eh - its not only the Julian dating, it's the fact that you have to really look at the bottle to find the numbers sometimes. In a bottle shop (distributor) which often has poor lighting, it's hard to find the numbers printed in black on a tinted bottle. I hate looking like a tool as I walk a single bottle to the front of the store where there is daylight trying to find the stupid date. That's the obstacle - not the simple math - even though I was more of an English/SS guy in HS....

A shot across the bow, yes. I agree about the visibility problem, which is a pain even when you know to check for the ink at the fill line. I sometimes have to use the flashlight from my phone to find it, but if I'm not looking like a tool for holding a bottle up to my face in search of a bottling date, I'll be looking like a goofball for paying $20 for a four-pack of something else. And frankly I think the clerks at the packy probably already clock me as a jackass when I walk in, so I try not to let it bother me.

I'm a pretty big fan of all of the above except I think their sour stuff sucks, particularly Dark Swan. but the concept of making FANTASTIC beer available in huge quantities at reasonable prices, in the days of the 4 pack of 16 oz milkshake IPAs for $17, well, that's a concept I can't understand anybody not getting behind no matter how much of a hard on they have for Tony Magee.

Can’t be any shittier than Rogue’s yeast.

Used to like Rogue years ago. These days Santa's is/may be their best. Newport taproom was always nice tho !

Where is TF that cheap? Here in Cali at WF it retails at 14.99-16.99, before tax. So it turns out to be 18 or so. That's not a terrible deal, but it ain't great either.

Cherry Jane was fun, but I agree Dark Swan was just a messy beer. I still find their sours always worth a try, since they are at the very least not generic. I just tried Mozango and thought it was really tasty! I hope Born Yesterday returns to form next year and they bring the sixers back, even if they have to raise the price a wee-bit.

I recently went to Trader Joe's to try some of their cheapies and see how they are holding up. The Stockyard Oatmeal stout at $5.99 a sixer is still one of the best deals out there imo. Black Toad ain't bad either. Also, their home brand, Josephbrau, makes a pretty tasty Winter Brew (basically a dopplebock) which clocks at 7.5%, and is not bad at all. Their Czech pils is fine too.

Mission St used to be brewed by Firestone and go for 5.99 a sixer. Their IPA was a seriously good deal then! But since Uinta took over they suck balls, and it costs a dollar more. There's also a new Mosaic pale six pack can at 5.99 which is, well, not good. I tried a Chocolate Mexican Imperial Stout with Chillies which was undrinkable; worst beer of the year for me.

After many years of incursion and expenditure, I have become less compelled to spend so much money in beer. I saw a six pack of freaking 4 pack of B West Picnic Lightning cans at Whole Foods for $21.99... And a can of So Happens It's Tuesday by The Bruery for $14.99...

I'll gladly pay premium for something like Hill Farmstead, Homage, SARA, Cellador, Monkish, Other Half, Alvarado Street, etc, but most craft beer off the shelf is insanely overpriced imo. Lagunitas bless, again.

Hop Bullet by SN is also a great deal for $8.49 a sixer, even if a bit boring.

I don't think anyone would feel as bad about Mr. Magee if he hadn't publicly and loudly proclaimed himself a man who hated everything he now is, and someone who would never do all he now has done. If he hadn't turned out to be just another capitalist pig wearing hippy clothes and smoking herb people likely would be kinder.

they had that funky yeast profile before they sold out. It adds a unique taste in all their hoppy beers that I dont enjoy.

Honestly, I don't see the problem with becoming a successful business and attaining growth if they do not betray commitment to the product's quality, customer expectation, and brand integrity. Lagunitas make excellent beer, are always trying new things, are relatively affordable, and they're widely distributed. They beat their competitors in the basic quality : price ratio. What's not to like?

The SN thing sounds dodgy indeed, but other than that, I see no problem with them chasing growth. People turning craft beer into a microcosmic inflection of their global political views (i.e. aversion to "capitalist pigs") is a bit silly imo. But to each his own.

For me, it's all about the beer too. But it is certainly easy to understand those who disparage him. You do understand the accusations against him?
