I would love to get back to Bamberg, The Czech Republic, and up into Scotland to try single malts where they come from.

My wife and I are going to try to get a trip to Italy completed in 2019, and Rome, Florence and Venice are on the hoped-for itinerary for now. I've read that Italy has been up-and-coming for craft beer. but I have not looked into the details yet to begin the planning for the beer spots that we could visit. (Beer places were a 'bust' on our visit 5 years ago.) But first I have to get thru a hip replacement surgery in three weeks, then the travel plans for stateside travel as well as the Italy trip should begin to fall into place. I hope also to revitalize my golf game which has been in a two year layoff, but that's not really beer-related (although if you're a golfer you know it really does usually involve beer ).

Gonna try to reduce my stash. Gonna try for a review a day average, 2 a day if I get out to an early start (i did that once a few years ago, it wasn't as hard as it seems, and with all the breweries around here, should be easy). gonna still drink regular favorites as well as new stuff. Gonna pay even less attention to the hype.

Massachuttes is not really that far from CT and RI so that I can tick off my bucket-list visits to those two states to drink a beer, so I'll be happy to help you in your cellar reduction process. Just let me know when.

This needs to be a goal of mine out of necessity. Running out of space........

Also, to host a bottle share.

    I'd like to;
    • Have a Toppling Goliath KBBS (also SR71 and Mornin' Delight if possible)
    • Get ahold of some BA Fidy variants, particularly Rum BA Fidy
    • Reach my goal of reviewing beers from all 51 states (50+DC), at 35 now
    • Have all eight of the BCBS 2018 beers - just need to get Coffee Barleywine yet
    • Have all of the BCBS 2019 beers
    • Acquire a Will Ralston Sticky Fingers glass (real cool)
    • Get a full size kitchen fridge for a cellar beer fridge (honey, want a new fridge? I'll move the old one) :innocent:
    • Get to a favorite brewery (Prairie, Founders, GI)
    • Go on a couple of out-of-state beer shopping trips
    • Go to a local beerfest held in February

    Clear Continue Refrain Attempts

Clear my back log of entering beer ratings (over 250 to go) and place ratings (several plus).

Clear my current stash to about a dozen bcbs.

    Continue volunteering at FOBAB.

    Continue exploring local breweries.

Refrain from bomber purchases, stick to drafts for these beers.

Refrain from making $5k in beer purchases. Target $2.5-$3.0.

Attempt to complete all beer styles.

Attempt to reach 25 countries and all 50 states.

Retirement or an extreme cutback is one of my goals. It's been a fun run. Cost of beer is getting out of hand. I can afford it. Weights gone up. Looking at yearly beer spendings is a real eye opener. Once you've had one haze, it almost feels like they are all the same. It's just not that fun anymore. Feels like a FOMO grind. I made it to HFS and TH this past August. Bucket list ticks right there. It feels like I don't need to go out and try much of anything anymore. Maybe I'll take a month off and get my mojo back. I don't have DUIs or let beer affect my job or the like. Just feels like a good time to take a nice break.

I'll be taking a week off starting tomorrow. Then, I plan to drink the crap out of my cellar! I say this EVERY year, but I REALLY mean it this time. After about a month of trying this, I will likely start adding to my cellar....crap.

Haven’t read any responses. My guesses (in no order)

    Drink less

    Drink down cellar

    Spend less on beer

Travel more for beer / visit new breweries

Chase less hyped beer and focus on the readily available solid beers

Looking forward to seeing you all drinking/trading a fuck ton of whales and building up your cellar in 2019!

Gonna be in Portland in February. Music, beer, and food. Looking forward to that.

Right now I am 2 weeks into a no drinking detox. Might stop at 3 weeks or might go for the month, still deciding. Never planned to detox, just randomly decided to give it a go. Feels good, so want to keep at it for a little longer.

Drink less - no doubt I consumed more beer I’m 2018 than any other year. Gotta get back to dedicating a night or two each week for enjoying beer rather than drinking just about every night to keep up with the abundance of offerings.

Enjoying good beer, for me, needs to be an isolated event planned and not a night time occurrence. 2018 has felt a bit glutinous in beer consumption......(would be nice to save up all that extra money that went to beer for a good trip in 2019 as well!)

    Goals:

Same as every year, reduce my bottle count, which I failed in 2018, went from 78 to 94. FWIW: did better the last two years.

New goal: Continue to re-engage in bottle shares. Really enjoyed the 2018 shares I've attended. Oddly enough, the people are far more interesting then the beer. And beer has beer world class.
