So I'm at a very well known chain restaurant
and I order a flight of 4 beers. 3 of the 4 beers
have kicked and are no longer available. But
they still show on the big draft beer board. I say
that to them after getting 3 more to complete my
flight. They acknowledge my observation but
remained on the board even as I was leaving
later on?!!! Cmon man!!! How unprofessional.

It depends on the setup of the board. If it's something that is easy to change, I'd be a bit more annoyed than if it's something that requires a ladder or a computer password to change.

If it's not a priority for them to change it they're probably just going to get upset or at least be indifferent to you bringing it up. A lot of the corporate places, or at least the staff, still have the "It's just a beer" mentality. I've found these types of things to be a losing battle most of the time, and not worth the energy. I just wouldn't go back.

That's what I was thinking too. Seemed odd that a chain restaurant would offer flights.

Restaurants just aren't taprooms. I get annoyed when I ask at Applebee's what they have on tap, and they rattle off Bud, Coors, and then "Surly", "Lagunitas" (mispronounced), or "New Belgium". So next I explain to the 18yr old Bud-drinking waitress that Surly/Lagunitas/New Belgium have dozens of beers each, so they roll their eyes but go check and come back with something helpful like "it's light colored". Then I say "diet coke" and get "the look". Now I just check the taps myself on the way in, and then order diet coke. I don't settle.

I think some BWW locations offer flights. Some of the locations try to portray themselves as craft beer destinations.

I'm with @bbtkd on this. I won't settle either. Which is why I don't patronize places like Applebees or BWW (buffalo wild wings).

John, I too make the same choice but if some of my buddies were to pick these sort of places to get together (thank goodness this had not happened yet) I think I would have to break my record here.:slight_frown:

    Cheers!

I can't say I've ever seen this. But then again I don't look for a beer drinking experience when I patronize these establishments. Usually just a quick glance "just incase" is all

That's the sort of thing that I'd let slide on that visit. But they wouldn't get future visits out of me.

Not settling for sub-standard beer and craft-illiterate staff, just there for the food. I'm not so set on having "a beer" with supper that I'll have something I don't like. I can have a favorite cellar beer when I get home.

This is ridiculous. "I won't settle". You are in an Applebee's FFS! What would be worse? Red Robin? (do those still exist?)
Just order a beer, watch the football, eat the wings or whatever one does there.

Good point Jack. There have indeed been occasions when I've "good naturedly" agreed to meet up with friends after work at a chain. Usually it's because some of the group want a mixed drink, which is something you often can't get at watering holes here in the NW.

That hasn't resulted in any meetings at applebees or BWW, but we've visited a few hotel restaurants that were nearly as bad.
