No I don't. To the best of my knowledge, he's never divulged whether or not he works for Troegs. However (and this is based on memory), there have been a lot of posts from him over the years regarding Troeg beer that I don't think anyone who doesn't work for Troeg's could provide. Also, some of the responses and dialogue I've seen him engage in with other BA users, seemed to make it pretty clear that some members on BA knew who he was at Troegs.

All I can tell you is that based on my past experience posting in the mid Atlantic forum, I'm virtually certain that he works for Troegs.

Not to pile on here, but my own very limited history posting here and reading oneraindog’s posts plus John_M’s info in this own thread is what I am going on here.

Also, I do know a few people who have and still do work at Troegs. I can not provide documentation for this, so I am not sure why I posted it, but there it is.

Sweet.. have they announced a nationwide release? Or is this a misplaced thread?

Troegs distributes to states in 4 different BA regions according to their Distributors Page.

I mean, if I spent my time in Troegs parking lot looking for Tom Waits discs... I would have to spend my time looking in every parking lot I park in. Who wouldn't love a Tom Waits fan and want to unmask them? Love me some Waits.

A joke about the documentation bit, which I found a little strange, but also humorous since I am familiar with Jack's posting style, despite not having many posts to my name.

I was just crying in my beer that all I can find now is juicy, hazy NEIPAs, since I'm a big fan of malty IPAs.
That made me happy to read NN is being released.

As @jesskidden mentioned, their big releases cover multiple regions - New England, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, and Great Lakes.

In a previous year, when I posted a thread in the Mid-Atlantic forum, it was merged with a thread that had been started in this Beer Release sub-forum.

I was told by the mods that if a release covers more than one region, put it here.

I had a bottle last night, FB 04/25/19. Very malty and not much hops. Could be me, who knows, but I still enjoyed it and the beer looks great. It's selling for $11.49 a sixer near me and for that price I say you couldn't go wrong if you are into such things.

We’ve all had beers that drift a bit from year to year, but I do not brew and do not understand brewing science. But my thought would be that it would be far more difficult using fresh hops first and foremost as it relates to consistency. Next, I would suppose dried hops and or pellets. But with hops extract could one come up with a better way to Quality Control and consistency? Could you not blend to achieve batch to batch consistency? I would assume a liquid would be easier to analyze and duplicate. But perhaps not?

Maybe @oneraindog will respond to your post?

They blend scotch for consistency, they blend BA beers, I assume they would blend hop extract to precise and measurable standards as well. If not it’s kinda useless I would think. IMO year to year fluctuations with seasonal beer cause me no grief, in a way it’s a bit exciting when they nail it, and it’s expected to a degree. IMO last years NN was terrific, but I only bought a few sixes too, IMO it ages terribly.

I buy a 6pk of Nugget Nectar every year when it gets released. It was probably the first "anticipated" beer I ever found in the wild when I was first getting into craft years ago so it has that nostalgic appeal.

The beer has always been good to me so I can't speak on the batch variation dilemma. However, it is absolutely one that you need to drink fresh. I've noticed differences within the same 6pk where the first bottle was incredibly hoppy, but another bottle drank a week later tasted very different - subdued hops with a stronger malt backbone.

Nugget Nectar might be considered old news for some. I still consider it a pretty iconic beer that tastes great when I buy it once a year. Just remember to drink it fresh.

Dale, as was detailed in post #63 above, @oneraindog is the Vice President Operations at Troegs Brewing Company. He is the appropriate individual to respond to your queries.

    Cheers!

    It worked for Schlitz:

Oh, wait - eventually, no it didn't...

But, of course, that was a different era, back when "craft beer" was just getting started and the use of something like hop extract was looked upon as a negative shortcut used by "industrial brewers".

But that was long ago and was also the case with using adjuncts (corn, rice and syrups), artificial (forced) carbonation, enzymes, fruit-flavored beers, etc.

Didn’t know that. It would seem to me that it would offer a better shot to control the product. A liquid would seem to be more controllable and easier to analyze and manipulate. Makes sense that the yellow fizzy water is just that, I’m sure the malt and yeast are stable, hops a bit of a wildcard, so minimal hops it is. Probably one way to help consistency.

I bought my first pack in probably three years, best by 4/26. I'm pretty sure this is the same NN I always loved. Vibrant, pugent hops with stiff bitterness and lots of caramel, sugar cookie sweetness. I am enjoying this mostly on its own terms, but there is some nostalgia at play here. My palate has shifted toward drier, lower bitterness preferences in my hoppy beers, Nimble Giant comes to mind. I'm down for another pack though! I love seasonal hoppy beer, it's really the only way to ensure freshness in Pennsylvania unfortunately.

Picked up a 12 pack of cans, dated Freshes By 5/10/19 so assume they date 4 months, so 10 days old. Cracked the first one now, solid hop aroma, and tasting pretty good.
