    Off the top of my head can’t think of many 10%’ers that aren’t tosed

    Do any of us really know how much lactose (or extra calories, etc) we are talking about when we complain about the lactose beers? Like is it 10% more calories or something, how much more residual sugar etc are we talking about?
    I understand some may not prefer the "muted smoothed" flavor profile versus non-lactose/ non oats, but are these beers really that much more calorie/heavy bombs like it seems we think they are?

    If it added more than 50 calories per can I'd be genuinely surprised.

    For reference, 1 tsp of Lactose is about 15 calories so make of that what you will.

    Nuts to nuts, adding lactose to the same beer depends a lot on dosing. Looking at some various lactose products, it's about 3.75 calories per gram of lactose. 1/2 pound of lactose in a 5 gallon homebrew of a NEIPA is sometimes noted as conservative, but let's go with that as a basis. At that rate, a 16 ounce can would contain about 22-23 extra calories per pounder vs the non-lactosed edition. Milkshake IPAs at twice the lactose dose would be about 45 extra calories.

    @dhaakon can check my math.

    I will chime in here too. I prefer some older style non tose beers but I still will drink these ones, although getting tired to a point. That being said I have been lactose intolerant my entire life to the point of, as an adult, cutting all diary out of my diet because of the negatives I experience when eating/drinking it. I can drink several beers that have lactose and see no ill effects from it at all, so I have always operated on the notion that whatever a "touch of lactose" is to an entire run a beer (kegs + cans) can't amount to a super substantial amount in a per serving basis. As someone who would have to run to the bathroom pretty soon after a slice of pizza or some fork fulls of penne vodka/lasagna and so on, I don't get that at all when drinking several beers from OH or elsewhere that include lactose or milk sugars in them.

    Sorry to hear that. It's always a danger to leave a jacket by itself around a bunch of drunks.
    What was provided for the NYE party? From what I gathered on IG stories, I only saw a list of 8 guest taps, some Miller High Life, and a magnum of Velvet Magnum.

    I don’t care about the caloric content, that means shit to me...what I don’t like is the milky, sweet taste. In one’s done not so good, it can taste downright chalky, too. Other Half’s are the best ones I’ve had, but they’re amongst my least liked beers they make. Ymmv

    In a stout, I like it, in an ale or (God forbid, I give anyone the idea) a lager, not so much.

    Yeah this has always been my take as well. It’s a taste thing not a calorie / dude this shit is literally loaded with cream (or half and half) thing.

    If your hobby is drinking 7-10% beers you’ve already made a strong commitment to the extra calories

    8% no tose - everything in moderation; wait didn’t the monks drink beer for nutrition?
    8% w/ tose - my body is a fucking temple no way

    I think one of, if not my fav, OH beer from '18 was the end of June iteration of the DDH Galaxy + Citra dual hop

    While a sugar, lactose doesn't add a ton of sweetness. It's more body than anything else. Try dry lactose some time. I think you'd be surprised by how little it tastes like anything.

    With some time, I'll follow up with more evidence, like a sweetness chart or some shit.

    Fake news, even if they disagree with me. I don't know who's posting that. I don't know how checked out it is. I don't know how reproducible their study was.
