There's a bunch that have exceeded my grasp but that won't stop me from reaching.

Orval. I've intended on grabbing it many times over the last several years, then ultimately pass in favor of something more exciting/seasonal/cost-effective.

Cost prob was't the determining factor--esp to just try things and it took me a while to think of this. What really is strange is that 15 yrs ago, in my go to "craft" beer store, Belgians and Germans were the mainstays and I reached over this one 100 times. My "go to"s were Westmalle and Roch. It also was on tap more back then than a lot of others so weird, huh?

Thanks for the suggestion--will do that. And you hit another on the list to have.

Will do, after a "dry January." This year will be a bit more focused on introducing myself to or revisiting "classics."

    Great thread.

After30+ yrs of beer drinking, there is not a lager I prefer more. More than a "must do," a requirement.

That is amazing. Really curious what someone's reaction would be today as it was so "way ahead" of its time 30 yrs ago. But to have it for the first time now, suspect the reaction to it would be completely different.

In keeping with the theme of this thread, tonight I will pop my cherry on St. Bernardus Christmas Ale. I checked and haven't reviewed it here so that either means I've only had it on tap or was always too cheap and sprung for something less pricey like Corsendonk. I have to admit I was surprised to find it unreviewed since I'm a sucker for Christmas ales and Belgians.

Looking through the beers of fame it would probably be Rodenbach Grand Cru

I’d highly recommend Black Butte Porter, best of it’s class imo.

There is nothing more exciting or cost effective than Orval.

    It's always in season, too.

A quick check of the Most Popular Beers page reminds me that I have had neither Corona Extra nor Duchesse De Bourgogne. Let's see... which one should I try first?

Hopslam for me as well. They used to not be in Jersey, and haven't seen/hunted for it since they have been distro'd here. Didn't see it when I was living in SoCal either.

Celebrator. Makes no sense at all. I like the style, think goats are bomb, and it’s always available. Maybe it’s because I’m buying more beer at breweries instead of poking around in stores? I’ll make notes to myself to grab one soon, hopefully.

It's a January release, and Bell's only started NJ distribution mid-year 2018. According this News entry, they'll start shipping Hopslam to New Jersey the week of Jan. 14.

Given how much of Bell's beers I see still on the shelves dating from those initial few months, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Hopslam.

This is probably the most unfortunate post in this thread so far. I loved that beer, and can't get it anymore. Hopefully you have the opportunity to try it someday.
