Just don't buy the overpriced nonsense. The people who buy it are only feeding the bogus hype machine. There's no way Toppling Goliath's latest nonsensical contraption is 20 times better than BCBS, KBS, Boulevard's WBS, or even FBS and Speedway.

Some people must have too much money or not enough brains (or both) to pay prices like that.

New money FOMO. Shit makes me laugh.

On a side note, Pappy used to be free goods back in the day. Can you even muster that thought? Now look at those retail and secondary prices. People are just plain stupid. That is all.

With more local breweries opening shop every month and the growth of distribution along with the option of trading, why would anyone buy anything on the second hand market.. Plenty of good barrel aged stouts sitting on shelves.. I'll put cbs up there with any of them and there are plenty still available. $100 a bottle of anything is just giving craft beer a bad rep

I've seen bottles of Handjee valued at and sold for A LOT more than $500. You should check out the lambic market if you think $500 is a lot of money.

Bottles are bought and sold all day every day at prices in the hundreds and thousands. Nothing new.

I can’t see why anyone complaining about a wierd secondary market, it exists with just about every commodity known to man. It’s rarer, hard to get, in demand, of course it’s going to be overpriced. I work in the art field and the same applies here as well. You just say no and move on, but of course there’s buyers in the absurd, and what’s unreasonable to most isn’t really so with others. If your stupidly rich and KBBS is $1000 a bottle, so what?

I can see this perspective, too. I just hate the idea of feeding the hype machine beasts (TG, TH, Trillium, etc.).

In a lot of cases what’s so desirable isn’t really all that rare or even hard to get is just has a very small footprint. Trillium isn’t rare or hard to get if you live in Boston, nor is Treehouse if yiu live in Ma or Ct, Ny etc. But if you’re a 12 hour drive away, might as well be in Cali. Guys who live there and can easily get them also hold it in trades at a higher value as well. Because they can, because there’s demand, and it’s a form of a secondary market as well. If you trade you realize some beers cost more, some are rare others are sequestered. Option is to pay or say no.

For me I feel the same way about other products. It’s one thing if you buy a product and can no longer or don’t want to use it. It’s another if you buy it for the sole purpose of reselling it. I know it happens with beer, liquor, concert tickets, sporting events and probably lots of collectibles associated with other hobbies.

There’s a record site I look at, old vinyl that kinda thing. Beatles White Album in mint condition = $500. Yea really, new it sold for like $4. Is it that rare? That desirable? $500 is more than ridiculous, but why list it if it’s only worth $50?

Can we talk about whether or not it’s ruining craft beer? LoL
