Bad trader: @Luscious_Malfoy

I'm looking for some advice on how to handle a situation. I traded with a BA member and it evolved into a semi-regular thing. Sent a box in July, received a box. Again in August and once more in September. We discussed another box in October and I shipped it. I went on a small trip and picked up some new beers. I contacted my 'trade partner' and told him I had new stuff to send his way. He told me he was rounding out a box to send me. I shipped a second box in October. He messaged me that he received it and wrote "epic box, thanks so much".

I have not had a reply or shipment since. This member is on the site several times a day. He has been rating the beers that I sent him, even as recently as last Thursday (a barrel aged bottle). He has over 100 trades and a 100% rating. Very active member approaching 1000 posts.

I sent PMs in November, December, and January. Also sent a PM under a new title. Sent texts. Nothing.

Should I try to reach out with other members he has traded with recently or traded with multiple times?? Could a moderator reach out to him?? I welcome any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you.

 

Thank you partner!! Things were going along great and then POOF!! Sent a box of 14 and then a box of 17. Not sure what changed or happened but he is still on the BA site daily and checking in beers.....including mine. Very disappointing to not even get a response from him.

 

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and comments. I'm giving it 24 hours for a response. I will be back with an update.

 

Quick update.... it seems that he has not logged into BA since Saturday night (unusual for him but not too crazy yet). I will check to see if he responds when he does log in again.

 

Hello. Looks like he logged in an hour ago. ....first time since Saturday night. I checked and he has not opened any of the messages. Not cool

 

I was hoping it would not come to this and it would get resolved. I believe I have done what I could to get some answers but cannot get a reply either through BA messages or text.

For 3-4 months I was extremely pleased while trading with him. He was very helpful and also generous with the trades.....would have recommended him to anyone. Sadly, he has not responded or sent anything after the last two boxes that I sent him. To compound the issue, he was on the BA site with regularity after I sent the boxes and appears to have completed other trades, rated beers that I sent, etc. - still no replies to my messages. I am more disappointed than anything as I really enjoy trading with him.

I sincerely hope that there is a logical (or at least reasonable) explanation for these actions. With well over 100 trades I am sure he has many satisfied trading partners. Now he at least has a platform to hopefully explain what happened. I would love to come to an amicable resolution.

You are correct. This is very unfortunate. It is not my intent to tarnish someone's reputation. He mentored me through the trading process and I am grateful for that. I have had some wonderful experiences trading on BA and have had the opportunity to try some amazing beers (from many BA members) that I would never have had the chance to do so.

We did have trade requests for the first three trades. We both left positive feedback upon completion. We did not set up a trade request after that. I suppose I can send him one now to see if he accepts (not liking my chances though).

Below is the last message I received from him. Based on our history it seemed he was good for it. The most frustrating part is that he went 'dark' on me but continued activity on the site.

dude, epic box! thanks so much! i’m on my way to StL for the evening as i type (not driving of course) to make some runs to fill out a box for you. going to hit NG, Perennial and Side Project so i should have something for you next week. sorry i haven’t been able to get anything to you sooner. cheers!

The new trades were not requested through BA. We were engaged in 'regular' trading and to me it had evolved into a trusted relationship (I accept any blame for not using the BA trade request when I sent the 4th and 5th boxes).

I would message him to see if he was ready for another box and he would let me know. The 5th box was a product of me going on a small trip and having beer for him sooner that I was anticipating. I checked with him and he said to go ahead and ship it.... he would have a box coming my way soon. I was aware (as was he) that I was already a box ahead of him before I sent the 5th, and at that point I had no reason to believe he would stop communicating with me.

I agree that both sides should be heard before judgment is levied. Everything here is certainly from my perspective. I still hope that there is a reasonable explanation for what has transpired.
