I have a pool table completely covered in bottles. Sometimes I really miss that game.

I am allocated only two small fridge door shelves and my bottle count is limited to about 10-15 beers based on the small shelf space. Sometimes I think this constraint is a good thing

Maybe 300. If I drink a bottle a day and don't buy or brew anything for 10 months, I should be fine.

Around 75. But the vast majority (~60) of that is recently purchased stuff (within the past month) that will be consumed over the next 2-3 months.
As for cellared stuff, beers I've been holding onto for 1-2 years and new purchases that I plan to hold for the next year or two, they add up to only 14:

1 ea. of all this year's Bourbon County variants (except Prop) - minus the vanilla, orange, bramble rye and coffee barleywine, which I'll probably drink this winter, so 3.

I'm limited to half of a chest-high mini fridge and the limited floor space around it in the pump room under the stairs. Keeps me in check. :grimacing:

I buy too much and want to save "special beers" for a "special" time. Lately I've been trying to decide that there are more special times during the week and weekends now are always special. Also basically whenever the Sixers play. I think it also comes down to FOMO when buying beers but it's a habit I'm trying to correct.

For those ten BAs that voted 1,000 bottles or more, do you entertain/share a lot? Will you ever get through them all? How many do you think are bad or will be bad before you get to drink them? Just curious.

I usually have between 50 and 80 beers in the fridge. I don't have any sort of reasoning other than I enjoy variety. I would say 20 or so have been there for multiple years (Barleys and Imperial Stouts). I tend to drink those styles quite infrequently, even though I quite enjoy them.

My inventory list shows about 178, but I need to add a couple for recent purchases....Nearly all BA Stouts, Stouts, and Barleywines. IPA's get taken care of pretty quickly and I don't bother doing inventory on those.

To be fair many are multiples of beers I love, such as KBS, BCBS, Avery Tweak, Willitized, and Revolution Deep Woods cans......

Worst thing my wife made me do was move the beer to a dedicated "Beer Fridge", immediately felt the need to fill every square inch of space in it......

Same here. I have about 2 cases worth of "special" beer that I break out every now and again I have found that anything beyond that, for me personally, is basically hoarding a bunch of expensive beer that will never taste quite as good as they once did.

At my current pace, itwould take me 3-4 years to buy 1,000 bottles of beer. Even then, only 25-33% would be considered cellerable.

Also my BA Stout consumption has decreased dramatically, and I don’t drink sours, so the beers I drink don’t age all that well.

Have you seen the movie Sideways? Good film. Anyway, there is a scene in the movie where the main character talks about saving a rare vintage wine (one that he saved from his failed marriage) for a very special day but that day never came. The lady he’s taking to says (I’m paraphrasing) ‘that beautiful wine is almost past it’s prime, and the day you open it makes it a special day.’.

Just an interesting viewpoint for folks saving beer from 1988. Just go ahead and open it; make it a special day.

vintage bcbs pairs much better with the mcfish with mcnuggets added to the sandwich. With some of that mickey d's sweet and sour topping it all off

Less than 10. Outside of some lambic, I've found nothing actually gets better by sitting on it. I keep a handful of the bottles that do on hand and drink everything else as it comes in. Too much past prime beer sitting in people's rot boxes doing nothing more than providing a dick swinging talking point.
