And with a new year comes our first release from our friends at Hop Butcher, IMHO Comeback Brewery of the year.
Neon Green Relish is a DIPA with Citra and Sabro hops. Sounds danky! Distro maybe over the weekend in a couple city spots but if not than early next week.

FWIW, Double BO is drinking stellar right now. More orange now than when released with the vanilla in the back. Excited for the new year with these guys!

dudes post portillos and gene and judes on their instagram feed all the time. they actually posted some gene and judes dogs yesterday followed up by their canning run.

it was canned yesterday, at least it got started. i would assume we would start seeing drops today or tomorrow?

I didn't either. They tweeted something out earlier in the week saying to join because they plan on sending more emails out.

Haha...I wasn't trying to dig at HB. Just legitimately trying to figure out what caused them to be "down" prior to 2018. It seems they were on a pretty upward trajectory prior to 2018, so was curious what the OP thought made them a comeback story.

They were. But don’t think the consistency was there until after that first drop of BO in early Feb was last year?

I don't think I'm allowed to talk about their consistency anymore around these parts.

I can understand the Comeback Brewery of the Year thing. Think back to when b1 of Mellotron and Reply Hazy came out, and they had that off, Belgian-y taste. Or when they started taking "New England Style" off of their cans because they were getting grilled on here for consistency (b1 of I Want To Believe was labelled this way, and it was a see-through brown color). This was all prior to 2018, and I really can't think of a bad batch of anything they put out last year.

Maybe also the fact that where they were brewing got shut down so they have to move elsewhere? I forget when that happened.

It's still a super weird pick imo

Yeah, this is kind of how I took it. Not everyone agreed on every batch, but there seemed to be much more consistency in terms of all the beers at least being decent/good (depending on opinion), and their highs were really, really high (Tavern Cut, a couple of the milkshakes, etc.).

Not go all #DictionaryAdvocate here, but a comeback is supposed to imply a return to one's former status/accomplishments (i.e. Andrew Luck is the Comeback Player of the Year in the NFL because he was awesome, then was out for a year with an injury, and returned to his awesomeness this year).

Maybe more of a Most Improved or Rising Star award should be given to Hop Butcher. Perhaps we should've done some Chicagoland Beer Awards for 2018 or something.

Bruh I'm gonna let you finish but GB batch 1 is still one of the greatest of all time
