absolutely outstanding scotch ale from Ellison's in East Lansing. I got a 4 pack of these when I was out there in April 2017 and I'm finally down to last one. Anyone out there know if they are still brewing this?

Skeleton Plot Oak IPA from Pipeworks...
Fermented on French and American Oak, featuring Citra and Cascade hops, Golden Naked oats, Maris Otter malt, and red wheat... 8.2% abv... I suppose there's a chance it's as old as from the original August 23rd release, but I don't know - tell ya right off the bat, I don't care - I'm loving it...

I've only had a few oak aged IPA-type beers, and I think I'm inclined to say I'm a fan of that particular pairing... The oak and the fruits kinda marry into something almost chardonnay-like here - floral, oaky, moderately bitter, mildly sweet, with pale fruit notes suggestive of citrus orchards and stone fruit - but kinda washed out and alcoholic - well, wine-like really... Amply carbonated, smooth, a little yeasty and tart - funky as if brett were involved... Another comparison I can use now is to a Brut IPA - this beer being kinda dry and tangy, but with a sweet undertone...

Checking out this great new vid from Behemoth...

This was incredible. Lasting head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malt and sticky hops; some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Insanely smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 9.4%. Amazing mixed profile of 12 different hops. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balance hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. They really nailed this for sure. Will get again. 4.28

Just off work, so time for an Amana Colony kind of start to my evening -- Millstream beer (picked up in November while traveling through Iowa) Amana bratwurst (ordered this month), and even the bottle opener was purchased at the colony a few years back...

Awesome imperial stout. Great head retention/soapy lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, rum, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, graham cracker, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal/grassy hops, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, roast bitterness; and bourbon, rum, oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; light slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannin dryness; no cloying/acrid flavors. Dangerously smooth sipping, minimal warming 10%, zero barrel booze. Awesome balance of rich malts, lactose, and marshmallow/graham cracker flavorings; with nice overall bourbon/rum barrel presence/integration. Very impressive. Wish we got Platform in MI, maybe someday. 4.1
