Awesome again this year. Flavors of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, toffee, cream, fudge, marshmallow, coconut, bourbon, and toasted oak; with light notes of molasses, smoke, char, coffee, mint, and herbal hops. Light herbal hop/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; creamy, silky, velvety malts; light chalky roast and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness. Dangerously smooth, mildly warming 12%, no barrel booze. Nicely rich malts, vanilla, lactose, and cocoa nib flavors; with nice barrel presence/integration. Not overly sweet/heavy for a dessert beer from lingering dryness.

2015 is tasting fantastic. Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, dark bread, and light smoke/char. Light-moderate bourbon/oak spiciness, and light roast/char bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel. Some bourbon/oak tannin dryness. Touch of chalky roast. No cloying/acrid flavors. Dangerously smooth. Mildly increasing warmth, touch of lingering booze. Never had a KBS this old before, oddly more barrel presence and a bit rough on tannins. Hardly any coffee left, but still delicious as expected otherwise.

Amazing IPA as always. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, apricot, mango, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very drinkable and not overly aggressive. Even with the new hops they added for the 1.1 version, it still tastes like the original Chinook/Centennial hop profile the most. Perfectly balanced juicy and dank hop complexity; with a nice solid malt backbone. A true classic IPA. Pretty much just as impressive as the first time I reviewed it over 6 years ago. A lot easier to find fresh recently, I'll keep buying them. Price is hard to beat for 16 oz cans, same with the Arrogant Bastard.

Good morning BAs! A snowy morning here in NW PA, not unusual for an average year but unusual for this year. Today's New Breakfast Beer and a cross-post with NBS:

Decent! Wish I had a couple more.

[IMG] I am very disappointed in all you BAs, letting @superspak get 3 Deep almost all alone. @JoeBloe and I will give you a hand. This is a spectacular BW and on a day when it is 0 degrees out, just what the Doctor ordered. Cheers all.

2013 vintage. This was insane as expected. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, biscuit, nuttiness, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with light notes of licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, and tobacco. Very mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Slight slickness, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Mild increasing warmth of 11%, no barrel booze. Insanely smooth sipper. This is even better than I remember more recent batches. It just gets better with age. Insanely rich/silky malts with perfect barrel integration. I got a handful of vintages a few weeks ago from a friend. World class RIS all the time. I prefer the base beer over a year old, just gets better after that.

When I arrived at the virtual bar this morning, @superspak handed me this beer. He said that he knows I usually eat oatmeal with pickled herring on Sunday mornings, and this is an excellent beer to pair with that breakfast. He was right! This is delicious! Thank you, sir!

Clear rich gold color with excellent white cap and lacing.

Piney, citrusy aroma with a distinct touch of grapefruit.

Taste is hop forward and plenty of it. The grapefruit elements are prominent with a sharpness that is strong without being bitter. Malt is substantial without serving up much in the way of malt flavor. More as a carrier for the hops and it does that job well. A fairly complex, well designed, well crafted IPA for those who are fans of this American approach to IPAs.

One of my all-time favorites as an explosive, nova of an IPA.
Up with the greatest, and the best from Lagunitas.
    a) Clear, brassy, golden body, laden with hop dust, with tight lacing head.
    s) "Citra hops changes everything" wrote a fave reviewer with whom I agree.
Splendid honey, melon, and orange aroma. Big bold tropical, floral forest.
    t) Very big caramel honey base layer to support the intense, honey-bitter top layers of mango, pineapple, papaya and apricot and ... more... then landing in a juniper, gin martini pucker.
    f) As clean as a martini, fresh, dry, cleansing, scrubbing, maintaining the excellence in long flowing after taste again of juniper, lemon, and goose berries.

So pleased to add the 1st review of Nitro Regular Coffee to this community.
If regular coffee would be made into a liqueur, or a liqueur candy bon-bon, like a Sugar Fina, this would be it.
    a) Paints the glass with walls of lace over a "clear as a shot" body the color of shellac.
    s) Regular coffee essentialized (not a word), ok, quintessence.
    t) resonating, reverb - can be the final after-dinner drink after cheese and dessert. Espresso would be a good back /side/ pairing.
    f) again candy on the tongue.
    o) Can you buy this? Should be sold in 8 oz shot cans like RedBull.

If you like to pucker, this is your DIPA.
    A) Very orange-red sunset through haze body, with a creamy white cloud head that scuds some lace like a sunset too.
    S) Bitter grass and pine.
    T) More citrus in the bitter pine and grass, hemp mix.
    F) IF you like the pucker, ow. Ow! Wow!

Thrilled to be 2nd (and first three word) review of this delightful Saison.
Brewer: My first, want to try all.
    a) cider, flat head.
    s) wine, cider, astringent.
    t) Super pucker without over play. Lemon, cider, overripe cherry, fall fruit.
    f) Cleansing, puckering, aperitif.
    o) Flanders, fall fruit, cherry like. Winner. As good as any.
Brewer Notes: "BFDP is a blend of our favorite barrels from the cellar."
Another big saison in a session format.
