It’s a beer it’s for my enjoyment, it’s not health elixir. So at that point it’s a gimmick that appeals to the many not the few, but I love the commercial when the guy gets shot in the arm with an arrow. Hate the beer, but I love their commercials.

This development is very good. Here are a few basic observations.

    • When those in a position of power want to deny people basic information, be very careful. They have a reason, and it is not your best interest. This is the opposite of that.
    • Beer is a better option than many supposedly "healthy" choices. Orange juice and milk come to mind. Not to mention other more questionable choices. Take that Mom.
    • An informed consumer is a better consumer. Always.
    • ABI, because it has the mass and gravity of the Death Star, moves the market.
    • ABI is the Death Star and only interested in complete and total domination. At any cost. Craft may as well be cynical. Skeptical. This is ABI after all.
    • Craft brewers, even the relatively large ones, will probably have a lot of difficulty keeping up with consumer demand if it comes to that. The analysis and packaging is another expense, takes more time, and not very practical for the craft brewer selling 25 flavors at any time.
    Overall though, yeah. Why not?

Uh, what about wine and liquor labeling?
I could care less about labeling alcoholic beverages.
Beverages containing alcohol. With that said; If you think any other ingredient may make this beverage bad for you, per the label, than stop drinking.

Interesting -- the tenor of these regulations aims to prevent false or misleading statements as much they are to provide factual information.

I for one am a fan of calories being listed on beer. It is pretty much on every other packaged beverage. Sometimes a "friendly reminder" isn't so bad.

Hopefully whether required or voluntary, brewers standardize servings as 12oz vs. stating a serving size as varying with calories. Some foods sound low-calorie until you note that something that is obviously packaged as a typical serving (such as a can of pop) is labeled as several servings to make the calories sound lower.

At least it is well defined.

More a matter of disclosure. If somebody is selling me a consumable I've got a damn right to know what's in it.
