I’m pretty sure Modern Hell is the beer from Beerfest. I literally want to bathe in this beer, it’s that freaking good.

I actually passed on it after seeing a few meh reviews on here. Now I wish I had picked some up.

I did however, recently get a 15-pack of House Lager and a 4-pack of regular Framinghammer, so I still have my JA bases covered.

I’m down to my last 2 cans already. I wish I picked up more than 2 4-packs.

For me, it went Dinkel Herb > Modern Hell > Ratskeller > Shipping up to Boston (for Kellerbier series beers I've had).

For me it was Franconian Kraft then everything else.

I'm actually not sure I cared for any of their Keller Series other than that, but that one was really good.

    Resurrecting Jabby Brau?

I liked that beer. It was one of their originals. Almost a less hoppy sessionable Hoponious at 4.5%.

Zooming in on this can it looks like 5.3% ABV though.

Up a percentage from Jabby @ 5.5%, and don’t hurt the eyes to much: https://jacksabby.com/beers/citra-brau/

Citra Brau is in a similar family to Jabby Brau but they are not the same beer. Citra Brau will have a fuller body, and as you pointed out it has a higher abv. Citra Brau also has more Citra hop flavor/aroma. That being said, you can expect a similar clean finish to our old Jabby Brau.

So just similar style, but fuller and dry hopped with Citra?

    Did Jabby use Citra?

Actually had to dig up some old brew sheets to confirm, the main hops in Jabby Brau were Lemon Drop and Amarillo.

They all kind of bled together for me (a comment on me and my memory, not on the beer) apart from finding Modern Helles a little odd tasting.

But a new batch of Shipping up to Boston just landed and I think it's pretty delicious.

I'm sure I'll be pleased to drink Citra Brau but I'll lament that it's displacing Saxony Lager, a sterling brew itself.

That's so far back I don't even know if Citra was widely used at that time. I also sort of remember there being far more balance to that beer than something like Hoponious, with the malt character being far more prominent (and delicious). More Helles than anything else.

But it was awhile ago, so I could be wrong.

I was curious how that one was, because I wasn't a HUGE fan of Shipping "Up to Boston", I think this one is Shipping "Out of Boston" though.

    Might give it a whirl!

What? No! It's so hard to find a Vienna Lager, never mind a good one!

    @JacksAbbyBrewing is this true?

    Noooooooooooooo Saxony was the best.

If they can figure a way to bring Fire In The Ham back every year, this damn sure better not be the last we see of Saxony.

Not planned yet, but there is a good chance we brew Saxony Lager again as part of our keller series.
