    Good morning BAs!
It's starting off as a snowy day here in NW PA. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

An OK brew, but over-priced for my proletarian taste buds.

Morning shopping cancelled by rain. Oh well, Natchez Brewing is up . . .

Beautiful clear amber color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of piney, spicy hops with a touch of orange and vanilla. A creamsicle for adults.

Taste is decidedly hop forward and the hops that immediately hit are piney/herbal. This hop influence is prominent and lasts to the finish. By mid palate the orange zest and vanilla kick in but literally play second fiddle to the hops. Malt body is substantial and would be a stronger flavor influence were it not for the competing orange and vanilla. Can't say that I actually taste the added lactose much but there is a balancing element working to offset the hops that's more than just vanilla. These flavor threads, different as they are, weave well together and remain so all the way to a clean, dry finish.

    Full texture with balancing carbonation.

I could call this brew a delightfully complex mix of highly diverse elements or I could call it a muddled mess that somehow works. Truth is it's very well balanced even if a bit quirky. Don't know what their goal was but this DIPA is the most impressive thing I've yet seen from this brewer.

Feels like a morning that calls for a beer, work or not.

A new song that's appropriate for the oncoming winter storm.

Happy Friday advocates. If you get snowed in, I hope you have good beer to be trapped with.

Cheers @mschrei , mate. Wish we were getting some of that snow here in CO (along the Front Range at least). Hope you survive this current polar vortex in IL. (Was listening to WBEZ this morning).

Having a cold one on the train on my way home from school to kickstart the Friday. Our 7 elevens over here has an okay selection of craft beer these days so I picked up a little something while waiting for the train.

Easy from Lervig, a 4.5% ABV pale ale. Really tropical and fruity and super crushable. Enjoying this a lot. Cheers to the weekend!

Thanks sir. Supposed to get less in the south suburbs than the city and up north. As long as I get home tonight, I'll have tomorrow off to drink beer and shovel and then it's back to work on Sunday when we're in single digit temperatures. About time winter arrived in these parts! Cheers!

It still feels like fall here, so I'm drinking like it...

Thanks @woodychandler! Great little festbier to start my day off. Worked a 17 hour shift yesterday and went to bed beerless, so my liver is rested. Cheers :beers:

Sheaf Stout, a very old (or should I say longtime?) favorite of mine which has been gone from the local market for a while, but which has returned!

Time to get the long weekend started! My TG stash from last week's shopping is down to 5 cans, 2 of which are King Sue .... which is perfect, since it means I should have one now:

Going to do some more beer shopping this weekend.

Tropical rumble at 4.3% ABV. I'm a little bit disappointed with this. Not that it's bad, it's just not as flavourful as expected. It's brewed with mango, peach and passionfruit so I expected it to be packed full of tropical flavours but it's a bit bland. Still a good beer though.

I'm having Lancaster Brewing's Winter Warmer Ale. Absolutely none of the spices usually associated with winter warmers. It's actually listed as an Old English Ale, which is my first time trying this style. It's not bad, but it's a bit disappointing. It's just malt on top of malt. There's no real complexity, just malt. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

    Cheers!

Brugge Tripel although a heavy Stout would be more appropriate. It’s chilly as hell.

Now I've had 9 of the 10 most reviewed doppelbocks. I don't look for Sam Adams to re-release their's anytime soon. I'll be on the look out for more obscure versions. Love the style! Cheers :beers:
