There yesterday, and there were cans to go. Looked like 5-7 cases of RP and maybe 4-5 cases of Standard on the floor.

 

We will be updating the site to make it more clear about options for 16 oz cans to go in the tap room, but for now:

- The Standard, about 15 cases left, tap room only
- Raw Power, about 15 cases left, tap room & distro

1/30:
- Voll Helles Spezial, tap room release (distro following week)
- Voll NE IPA, tap room release (distro following week)

2/22:
- The Standard, tap room release (distro following week)
- Teenage Riot, tap room release (distro following week)

 

Anyone know of anywhere downtown that has 12s of Cerne Pivo?

It’s also slightly different now, they used decoction mashing and it sits at 4.5% instead of 4% like before.

 

Does anyone know of where I can find a four of Cerne Pivo downtown?

 

There’s a bunch at Ball Square Liquors in Somerville, I imagine they might be at the more popular spots in Boston. Fort Point...etc.

 

I'm headed to Czech this summer. I really need to get my pilsner game in line. Funny enough, when I go to the Czech thread on BA, the discussion is mostly around where to find American styles e.g. NE IPA. I appreciate the novelty, but I want pils!

 

For the big guys, you can choose your restaurant or bar by pilsner, as they all seem to have beer signs outside. For my money (admittedly very long time ago) Urquell>>Budvar>Staropramen.

 

Thank you. I am interested in having Urquell at the source. I like, but don't love, the US version as I find it a little buttery...

Picked up some Raw Power and The Standard as well.

 

That Voll Helles Spezial sounds unbelievable. I find the tasting notes interesting as I had one of the most amazing Helles last night at Crooked Stave of all places. Soft, with the light grape/honey/cracker malt complexity. I’ve read about the “grape” flavor profile when drinking traditional fresh southern German Helles but never experienced it until just now.

@ChrisLohring is that Sauergut related? I’ve heard it is.

 

Partly, but it's also how / where you use it, but there are other factors involved as well. We think limiting hot side DO (dissolved oxygen) is also a large factor. We just canned Helles Spezial today - available at the Tap Room now and distro next week.

 

Any Standard sightings in Somerville/Cambridge?

I've heard about Raw Power, but not The Standard. I'll probably pick up Raw Power too, but The Standard is a perfect Super Bowl beer.
