I always ship UPS for one reason, when they put a due date on a package, it shows up that day. I have had multiple trades with people who use USPS and I end up getting my package 3-4 days later than they got theirs. Anyone else have these problems? The tracking in do that USPS provides is also horrendous. The package will disappear in the network for days. I am not doing trades with folks that ship USPS amymore. I just don’t want to deal their incompetence.
I recently shipped USPS for the first time. I am in NC and my trade partner was in California. I dropped the box off at the local post office, and less then 48 hours later the box was on his door step. I was truly amazed, and it only cost me 18.95. That being said, if I send my Dad a birthday card through the mail, it takes a week to get to him. He lives one state over in a rural area of Georgia. I guess it just depends on where you are shipping from and to with USPS. The tracking did take a little while to update, when it first got to the regional station.
I've had zero problems sending or receiving USPS flat-rate beer boxes. Usually I'll use UPS because mostly I ship boxes in the 45# area.
In my experience USPS is by far the most reliable. Fastest, cheapest, most likely to arrive at target. A minimum of 250 flat rate boxes sent at this point. I’ve also never noticed anything wrong with tracking system of USPS. Maybe an issue at your local hub? I’d choose UPS if I couldn’t use USPS flat rates (1 or multiple). I don’t use FedEx. USPS is also what I recommend when people ship to me.
I’ve never had great luck with UPS. They’ve never lost a box on me but more often than not they’d run a day or 2 late. They also used to be more expensive than Fedex. At least for me. I prefer Fedex for big boxes and no one beats USPS for smaller boxes. Flat Rates FTW!
That’s why people use usps because it’s cheap. But they say your package will show up on Tuesday and then it shows up on Saturday (2-5 day window). I use ups at work everyday (75 package per day) and their shit is dialed in like clockwork so I’m not sure what you are referring to with late packages - never experience this on 15000 plus package per year.
Believe it or not I’ve only had 1 late package from usps. And it went to Hawaii for the week of Christmas. Obviously there are number of factors at play such as hubs, routes, employees etc. I’m glad ups works out for you. I used ups exclusively in the beginning of my trading. I would send routine packages to Georgia. They would always be a day or 2 behind the initial expected delivery. Not a deal breaker just a smh kinda thing. The reason a lot of folks prefer usps is because they will deliver. Broken or leaky bottle? They’ll put your box in a bag and deliver it with an apology. Anything larger than a flat rate and I’ll use FedEx . Slightly cheaper and more likely on time than ups. At least that has been my experience so far. Cheers!
USPS is the best. Great value and the most reliable for delivering no matter what happens. My last box went from CA to mi in 2 days
Again, in my experience, the USPS tracking is great and rarely takes longer than the stated 2 days. Location does play a role. FedEx is shady in my area and UPS is slow and expensive.
I use USPS most of the time time. Rarely have a problem with packages arriving late. They have actually delivered to Hawaii next day The only problem I have had recently is a new guy was entering the info incorrectly. My return address was showing as the delivery address. So I could not really track it I spoke with the post master and it hasn't been a problem.
The one thing I can say is that UPS is slower than fed ex. However, they always show up when they say they will in.
Has anyone ever had issues with broken bottles/exploded cans with USPS? As I understand it, it is a policy of Fedex/UPSto not ship alcohol but a law for USPS not to. I have heard stories of UPS or Fedex ceasing shipments from addresses that have had boxes go bad. Anyone ever have problems with boxes gone bad with USPS?
I personally haven't, but in other threads I've read that USPS is usually the nicest. There have been some boxes delivered in a bag with an apology note for breaking a bottle.
Yep, what @swenny916 said. I have received a box with a broken bottle. All wrapped in plastic with a hand written apology for the damage. This is most likely dependent on who is the carrier at time of damage and whether the damage happens locally or at a hub.
What @swenny916 and @jhavs said. I will add my own personal experiences: Twice a box being sent to me via fedex had a break. One time they took all the beer and sent some glassware that was included back to the sender. The other time, they took out the broken bottle and sent everything else back to the sender. Twice boxes send to me via USPS had a break, and once a box I sent USPS had a break. The 2 boxes coming to me were both delivered with apologizes for the damage. They both smelled like beer, so they definitely knew what broke. The one box I sent got stopped at the regional hub because apparently they didn't want to move a soggy box onto the local post office. My target was able to go to the hub and pick up the box.
I will second (third? Fourth ?) what others have said. usps has delivered beer soaked box to me, in a plastic bag with an apology. And while I have had inexplicable delays with them I have also had 2 days from rural California to the Midwest
